Default Recommendations for car shipping?

I need to ship a car from Colorado to Florida. It isn't new so can be on an open bed.
Does anyone have any recommendations (or cautions) on reliable companies?

I have a pending open issue with them, so I will reserve complete judgment until everything is finalized, but at this point I would not recommend Plycar. That's the conclusion to another thread. Check out Intercity.

29 years of driving Corvettes - 700,000 miles.... shoot me airplane tickets. Will pick it up when you want, deliver it the day you want.

Oh. One other thing. Be sure to verify insurance. Lots of hail this time of year between CO and FL. I got this one a couple of weeks ago just outside Amarillo.

I have a new appreciation for plastic bodied cars. I couldn’t find any damage at all from the dozens of golf ball size hailstones that hit my car...other than the windshield of course. All of the other motorists that were pulled over with me had lots of dimples on their sheet metal...to go along with busted windshields and even back light glass in one case.

18 months ago we used uship to find a company to ship our C6 from Chicago area to Sacramento CA. We went with Montway, which was the second-most expensive company.

The experience was horrible, you can look up my thread in the C6 section from about that time if you want the depressing details.

The Montway Terms of Service took about six pages to print out, but here's the Cliff Notes version:

"We'll pick up your car when we get around to it, using whatever kind of truck is convenient to us, and we'll deliver it some day. If anything goes wrong, too bad."

My experience was not unique by any means. Car shipping companies make used car dealers look like saints.

Maybe we should consider making a sticky thread on shipping/transport company recommendations/experiences? Might be helpful as there seems to be a new thread every few days on the topic lately.

I would definitely contribute to that thread.

If you want to pretty much insure a good trouble-free transport experience then use a company like Intercity. Search this forum, it's the only auto Transport company where I haven't seen a single negative post.

Use a broker (like U-Ship) and you are rolling the dice as to the quality of the company who will be entrusted with your car and degree of experience you will receive.

I had a good experience enclosed shipping my new 14 C7 vert from Kerbeck (Atlantic City, NJ) to La Crescenta, a suburb of LA. Montway was helpful all the way and delivered the car right to my home driveway in about four days.

And you STILL shipped with them after that interpretation of the terms?

1. Good recommendations from friends.
2. Most shipping companies have similar terms.

Intercity was a first class experience. Mississippi to Virginia ran $1500, dedicated truck, enclosed shipment, professional driver, fully insured. Spoiled me on my first shipment.

Bumping this to see if anyone has any other suggestions. Im trying to ship my lambo to my home in FL. Tried innercity but they dont go my route(MO to FL). Called reliable and they will do it but they said it could be 2 days to pick it up or 6 weeks just depends on when they have an open space on a route going that way. I don't mind that but kind of would like a smaller window. So looking for suggestions on MO to FL enclosed shipping.

For me it's either Intercity or Reliable. Period. Call Reliable back and be more serious about booking. They're usually really good about finding you a truck sooner rather than later.

That is kind of the issue. I don't need it right now/tomorrow. I need it 2 weeks from now. So if I call them and book it they are still giving me a large window that may or may not happen on the day or two I need it. I have about a 3-4 day window where I need it picked up and about a 3 week window where I need it dropped off. Probably gonna contact my Lambo dealer and see who they use if I can't find something within the next day or so.

I've always found Intercity and Reliable to beat their quoted delivery times, Intercity substantially.
