Ive been waving for 60 years... the " wave "actually started right after WWII 1945 . You could buy a Crate jeep from Military surplus if you were a combat veteran... the cost was 50 dollars... you needed your DD 2-14 this was a band new military jeep in pieces.. You could build one in a long weekend. These Jeeps started to show up on the east coast and west cost.. Veteran of the European theater and the Asian theater took advantage of this.. it also became an Identifier of combat veterans.. as more of these vets were on the road.. these combat vets started to wave or salute each other.. soon after tis time line Bikers picked up on it... in 1953 the corvette community picked up on it... it became a Corvette community mainstay. the Corvette wave has been around since its inception..
Just a little FYI

I only wave if I have the top off. Otherwise, it gives me a headache

Come on Omar don’t do your fellow SoCali mf corvette owners that way. Always wave or flash if I have time to respond with visual contact with another corvette.

As soon as another vette can see me, I give a thumbs up.

I've always enjoyed the camaraderie built around Corvette ownership and liked to acknowledge other Corvette drivers over the years when encountering them, especially when passing on the road.
Seems like the 'wave' has dissipated a little over the years and that's unfortunate in my option.
Seems I get more waves from Tacoma owners while driving my trucks than from Corvette owners while driving my C7.

I’ll wave, flash, give thumbs up or even say nice car when the situation allows. In three years of ownership I’ve observed most Corvette drivers are an intense bunch, even when we’re just cruising the car requires our total attention. But the greeting always makes us smile!

I always wave. Seems like most owners in my area are unaware of this ritual.
