Do you do the "Corvette wave?"
#61
I always wave too. It's the same passion shared by motorcyclists. Every since I could walk and remember, I've always thought Corvettes were the coolest cars on the planet, and it is super cool belonging to a community who share a love and a passion for their cars like none other.
My daughter drives a 2 door Jeep Wrangler and she says the waves are pretty cool. Although, she notices most of the Cherokee and Compass drivers hardly ever wave, but the CJ and Wrangler drivers always. She also says funny how some in the Jeep community even look down and don't bother waving at the 4 door wranglers I guess because they don't feel they are Jeep purists. I guess everyone has a right to their opinion...pigheaded as it may be.
I imagine how some corvette owners may feel about C-7 pilots and why some don't wave or receive many in return...probably thinking these people have all the money in the world to throw at whatever the hobby of the day is and only want the performance or to satisfy their ego without feeling any lifelong passion for the brand. I don't think any of them are here since this is a sharing and giving community, but they're probably out there.
Then, you have the people who grew up in awe and wonder of an automobile which captivated our hearts and imaginations. These are the people who have spent many years saving nickels and dimes to one day afford the car of their dreams. They gather up every tea bag in the world they own, go to the bank and sign their life away for an automobile which is arguably impractical and doesn't make much sense, but these are also the people who can look at the lines of an any generation Corvette for hours and still think it's one of the sleekest and sexiest cars ever made. I'll wave to that any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

When I bought my first Vette, I was put on wavers. I wave.
There are times when others drivers attention is elsewhere and may not see me, as I know I have missed some opportunities while looking for a turn, etc. But I'd estimate a 75% return rate and I think that is pretty good.

The wave is alive and well in Minnesota. Running almost 100% on the return wave too. (In bad weather I might flash my brights instead)

Yes I do. Now on about 30 years of Vette driving and if I see them in time I try to be the first to wave. (any generation, a Vette is a Vette)

Yes -- return around here -- almost 100%. Occasionally when not seen a no wave, or sometimes, actually I should say the most often is a no wave back from the ladies. I understand; a lot of us OLD leches out there

I always wave. Unfortunately, I've been getting denied a lot lately. One older guy a few days ago even gave me an angry look. I've noticed since I've been driving C7's the no wave back rate has been much higher than it was when I had my C5 Z06. I almost always got a return wave in the C5. Has anyone else experienced this?

My Vette is still in the garage and I will be lucky to get it out in the next 3 weeks. It will be done for the season by mid Oct unless the weather is extremely good and then it will be in garage by the end of the month. Based on what I see up here many owners do the same. So perhaps that explains the good frequency of waves up here!

I've been driving Corvettes since 1971 and always wave whether I'm in my 1972 or 2014. I don't get offended if I don't get a wave back, I figure the driver either doesn't know about the wave or didn't see mine.

Opposite situation here in the PNW....On a good day I'll see maybe 2 or 3 other Vettes. That's why I try to wave to the ones I do see. Sometimes when driving my other car, I start to wave, but then I remember what I'm driving.

I always wave. Don't always get a response, but to me its probably a new corvette owner. (Looking at some of the c7 owners out there)
Its part of the culture, its part of the fun of ownership, its part of the tradition. Keep it alive! Friendliness and inclusion never goes out of style.
