Default Sideskirts....getting tired of them?

After 4 years of sporting them for some reason now they look like extra baggage to me. Contemplating removing them....anyone else have similar thoughts? Maybe it's just the winter doldrums getting to me..

I wouldn't even consider taking off my '17 GS as:
First, I love the looks of them.
Second, they are a part of the Grand Sport design.
Third, they go a long way in protecting the side of your C7 from rocks and road debris.

Something to consider is if they are attached with rivets, when most are, you will have several holes in the rocker panels. I agree those, sometimes the mod bug will get you. Maybe just changing the look of them would help? I've seen some with a red pin stripe that look really nice.

I had the feeling that side skirts would end up being extra baggage from the beginning, and I never liked the way they looked on a street car, so I never put any on my Stingray... I do like the stage 1 front splitter, so I added that and have had no problems with scrapping...

I will never add them just to avoid a few rock nicks on the rocker panels, and for me are just something else to make getting in and out of the car more difficult...

I'm thinking about getting the side skirts for my Stingray. One for the look and two for the added protection. Do you guys with side skirts find that you catch them with one or both of your feet as you get out of the car. Do you have to consciously step further out to prevent hitting them? Thanks.

That was something I thought might be an issue when I bought mine, but honestly, I never even notice them getting in or out. I guess my normal routine already had my feet going far enough outside the car that they don't get in my way.

I think if your short or having short legs.Maybe have to think.Getting out, rolling left, the left leg has to kick out quite a bit to clear the rockers.
Next time you exit.Pay attention what your doing and mark it.
I got FATTY'S they are 3 3/4'' inches from rocker.

Oh yeah babe. But, when I think about taking them off I just look at the gouge in the left rear quarter clear protector to remind me why I installed them in the first place. I guess you could call them a "necessary evil".

Maybe the regular Stingray body is OK without them but I would not take them off my Z06. I don't like the sound of those wide front tires picking up stuff and throwing them at the underside of th skirt but the sound of it hitting the body panel would be much worse.

I had ACS skirts installed at the museum before I took delivery of my 2016.

I prefer the narrow-body and would never mount them on that car. I think they look OK on the wide-body, but I'd consider leaving them off on that design too.

I protect my rockers w/ XPEL Ultimate, and in nearly 20K miles, the rockers and front rear quarter are still free of rock damage. XPEL is capable of taking a glancing blow without damage. Paint isn't.

I still like the look but never put them on my car for two reasons.

1) I could not overcome the concern of accidentally hitting the transmission lines on the left side when drilling the holes.
2) Concerned about my wife stepping on them when getting out of the car or she ended up disliking our road trips because side skirts would make it more differcult to get in/out.

If it helps. My wife is just over 5' and has never caught the skirts. I have full length CF. Neither has my son. I'm the only one that has caught them, and that was only one time while wearing tennis shoes with fairly large soles. You'd be surprised how far out you actually are from the car when you step out to begin with. The only thing I would worry about is if I had really young kids.

My vote....👍 A little XPEL is better than running boards

I felt that way about them the first time I saw them. Running boards were fine on my Model-A Ford when I was a kid, but... not on my Corvettes.

Now I'm the opposite of this. I love the look of the side skirts but not the front splitter. I had the same concerns about getting in and out but it hasn't been an issue for me. To each their own!

I think you would ruin the look of a beautiful car if you remove them.

Or worse, did 8 hundred damage to my rocker with something I hit at night, felt it but did not see it, took gouge out of seam and scratched the door.
