age has nothing to do with what looks good.....
...on some cars, nothing else work's but chrome ...i.e....
Can you image seeing the "Grandaddy of Bling" with painted wheels?
NO!
....and sixty years later ....chrome still looks good!

So? I have the rims that look best with the color of my car. In this case chrome. If I had red or black, I’d go with black rims. I also like machined face rims. We had black rims in the 60s, black steel rims. We thought it was cool to drive around without hubcaps.

I am 60 yoa and have never owned chrome rims. Not my style, plus I was always focused on reducing unsprung weight. I'm not sure how the manufacturing technology is today, but back in the old days the chrome finish always made the wheel a lot heavier.
Currently I have the black, oem cup wheels. My favorite color has typically been anthracite/gun metal because it doesn't show the brake dust as much....... I absolutely hate washing/detailing cars....if I get sent to hell, I will be forced to drive a Prius and have to detail it everyday with a toothbrush....ugh...

Guessing age is an interesting trick.
I always tell folks I can guess their age(by looking at them) and I won't miss it 20 yrs either way(+/-).....highly accurate! ha
BTW....I don't do chrome or black.
