How to smooth coil covers for painting
the coil covers on my new 2018 vette have a built in checker pattern. What is the best way to smooth them in order to get a shiny finish.

The easiest would be to use a filler and sand. You could just sand them, it would take longer though.

Or, perhaps, consider aftermarket if it's going to be a show car. Just a thought.

Oh... I see, when the OP wrote "coil covers" he meant the engine beauty covers, those red things that say "Stingray" on it in the pics above. My bad. I thought he meant the individual coils, that are, you know, hidden.

Your "beauty" covers are awesume!!!Just what I was looking for. Are they decals? Air Brushed? The "stingray" body is like the side emblem, is it a decal? Air brushed? Would you tell me where you got the covers? Imitation is the greatest compliment. Mind will be in Long Beach Red.

I've painted textured plastic pieces on my C5's and it just takes time and patience to get the surface the way you want it.

is the flag in the top engine cover a reflection or how was that done? Are the "stingray" letters stick on or painted. What about the stingray emblem?
thanks, Tom
