Help with MyLink garage door opener

Help with MyLink garage door opener
I have a GS 2lt. My garage door opener is Geni and it is a little over 3 years old. I am unable to program MyLink. I followed the instruction in the manual, and the instruction provided on YouTube.
First I press the two side buttons until the light flashes, then I hold my door opener in very close proximity and press the two button at the same time. The MyLink light never goes solid; no matter how many times I tried. Also, I tried the the learn button on the door opener.
And tips and help is much appreciated

Would like to know the answer, too. My Caddy worked just fine the first time. The GS will not cooperate. I tried pressing the memory button on the opener and then press the designated button on the visor. No Go.

You may have a "rolling code" garage door opener, which requires a different programming. There is a "learn" button inside the opener under a light cover that must be pushed at the appropriate time. See manual for "rolling code."

I am unable to pass the first step. When I press the MyLink and the transmitter button at the same time, the MyLink light suppose to flash fast. I am not getting to his point. I tried many times.

We just replaced the garage door opener and had to "clear" the memory by holding the two outside buttons (I think) until the whole memory was cleared before I could get it to learn the new code.

BTW MyLink is your infotainment system. HomeLink are the buttons to open your garage.
Here's a link from homelink.com with instructions on how to do this.
for a YouTube video about finding the "Learn button".
I've had to use the Learn button more often than not. I would not worry about steps 1-3 under Intellicode 1 - General Instructions. For example, in step #1 they say "Do not perform this step when training the additional HomeLink buttons". Since you already did this once I don't think you need to do it again. I think all you need to do is to locate your Learn button (see video) and then tap it and in 30 seconds hold one of the 3 HomeLink buttons as instructed.
I've gotten my HomeLink button programmed to a few garages as I move a lot. Even managed to program a gate, which is unusual. At my current apartment complex I cannot program the gate because the gate motor has no learn button!

The steps you are describing and the steps in the manual appear to be mutually exclusive. From the owners Manual:
To program up to three devices:
1. Hold the end of the hand-held
transmitter about 3 to 8 cm (1
to 3 in) away from the
Universal Remote system
buttons with the indicator light
in view. The hand-held
transmitter was supplied by the
manufacturer of the garage
door opener receiver.
2. At the same time, press and
hold both the hand-held
transmitter button and one of
the three Universal Remote
system buttons to be used to
operate the garage door. Do
not release either button until
the indicator light changes from
a slow to a rapid flash. Then
release both buttons.
Some garage door openers
may require substitution of
Step 2 with the procedure
under “Radio Signals for
Canada and Some Gate
Operators” later in this section.
3. Press and hold the newly
programmed Universal Remote
system button for five seconds
while watching the indicator
light and garage door
activation.
. If the indicator light stays on
continuously or the garage
door moves when the
button is pressed, then
programming is complete.
There is no need to
complete Steps 4–6.
. If the indicator light does
not come on or the garage
door does not move, a
second button press may
be required. For a second
time, press and hold the
newly programmed button
for five seconds. If the light
stays on or the garage door
moves, programming is
complete.
. If the indicator light blinks
rapidly for two seconds,
then changes to a solid light
and the garage door does
not move, continue with
programming Steps 4–6.
Learn or Smart Button
4. After completing Steps 1–3,
locate the Learn or Smart
button inside the garage on the
garage door opener receiver.
The name and color of the
button may vary by
manufacturer.
5. Press and release the Learn or
Smart button. Step 6 must be
completed within 30 seconds of
pressing this button.
6. Inside the vehicle, press and
hold the newly programmed
Universal Remote system
button for two seconds and
then release it. If the garage
door does not move or the
lamp on the garage door
opener receiver does not flash,
press and hold the same
button a second time for
two seconds, then release it.
Again, if the door does not
move or the garage door lamp
does not flash, press and hold
the same button a third time for
two seconds, then release it.
The Universal Remote system
should now activate the
garage door.
Repeat the process to program the
two remaining buttons.
Pressing the two outer buttons is to erase all programmed buttons:
To erase:
1. Press and hold the two outside
buttons until the indicator light
begins to flash. This should
take about 10 seconds.
2. Release both buttons.
I always have to use the opener Learn button and I don't pay much attention to the status of the Homelink lights. If the door moves, it is programmed regardless of the status of the lights.

Here is how I got mine to work after trying all different scenarios.
Press & hood the Universal Remote in the car. The red light will be constant on. In about 45 seconds, the Red light will now turn from solid red to a slow blinking red light. When this happens, keep your finger on the Universal Remote and now press your hand held transmitter. Keep both buttons depressed. In 30 - 45 seconds, your Universal Remote light will flash rapidly. It is now programmed.

Does anybody here even have smooth experience with garage door openers? -.- My chamberlain worked well at first. It's very user friendly but went nuts after many weeks.. It's crazy, super dependent to my network. sometimes our connection isn't that strong that it stopped working. how cool is that.

I tried all of the suggestions, and I couldn't get to work. I kinda gave up on it.

I have a 30-40 year old Sears garage opener that I didn't expect to work but it programmed right away. It is a little sensitive to car position but that isn't a problem.

I was upset not getting mine to work also. I then tried with 2 people. I sat in car with remote. Did that step and then had #2 press learn button and that worked.

This problem has popped up in the past. The homelink in the Vette is not fully compatible with all Genie remotes. What you can do is call Genie at the support number in your instruction manual for the opener. Tell them your problem and they will ship you free of charge an older model remote that works with your opener and the homelink. Program this remote to your garage door following the instructions in the opener manual for learning a new remote. Then use that remote to program your homelink and your problem will be solved.
Worked for me after many days of trying to get mine programmed with the current remotes.

Alternative to programming your homelink...
Take a look at this...
Works like a charm, so much so that I bought two, one for each garage door. Yes it takes a couple of extra seconds to fire up the app, but my phone always sits in one of the cupholders, so it's right at hand anyway.
