I am on the other end of the age spectrum and I still catch lame comments. Shrug it off and keep putting those miles on! Miles = smiles.
btw pretty car man. I love the white with the black accents. Almost as much as I do my VY...almost.

I was getting out of my 03Z at a rest stop back in 2005 and the rest stop custodian asked me "What is an old guy like you doing driving a car like that?" I just said "Old, is a frame of mind". I retired about 6 months later. Twelve years later I still not don't feel old except when the arthritis starts acting up or my knee starts to twinge when I have bone on bone contact in the half where the cartilage is missing.

People talk crap to all age groups. I've posted about it before, but try buying your Vette as a mid 20's aged chick...

"Must be nice to have a rich daddy!"

"Oh did your husband buy that for you?"

It used to **** me off but I've realized it's kind of fun to go along with it Some people are so quick to judge without knowing everyone's life story! Just enjoy your Vette and ignore the naysayers.

Most folks just admire the car and comment "Nice Car". Once in a while, there someone who has to make a comment. I had one guy who insisted I cashed in all my 401K to get the C7. I decided I'd just play along and told him he hit it right on the head. He still wouldn't let it go asking how I was going to pay the other bills. My response, "No Problem, just cash in another 401K."

Seriously? WGAF what anyone else thinks.

I had an arrogant ***** Battalion Commander, a married man and father of two, who got wind I bought a brand new Z06 at that time (2013).

When he saw me he says "So I hear you bought a brand new Corvette?" I said "Yeah.....and? It's my retirement gift to myself." With a sarcastic tone he says "Oh yeah.....like THAT is going to appreciate in value."

I told him I also bought a house and lost over $50,000 since the economy/housing crisis in 2010. And sarcastically added "Look where that got me. At least I am enjoying the Vette!!"

Some people are jealous or just dickbags (and drive a blue minivan) like this guy.

Sister took me to a family reunion.. said it would be "fun". Hadn't seen those people in about 20 years. Picked her up in my vette. Was a beautiful day as i recall. After 20 some years the best greeting they could come up with was a couple jokes about me being in a mid-life crisis. Decided I could wait another 20 years before I see them again... i won't know who they are, or who i am.. but you get the point.

I went on a third date with a woman who said she could never be seen in a Corvette (my first C7). I just smiled and said, "Well, that's a bit presumptuous." Got in my car, waved at her as I was leaving, and smiled the whole drive home. I was so grateful to my car for saving me from that.

I've had mostly positive comments about my 2018 Grandsport.

The only crisis I've ever noticed is NOT having a Corvette.

It has never come up. No one has even mentioned it they simply look at the car in envy.

Yeah, I guess we've all heard 'em. I just laugh - especially since most of the time, those who comment are driving a Camry or the like. You can bet no one is commenting on THEIR car. My very favorite comment, though, is "You must be compensating for something....". My very favorite response: "Hey, your mother never complained.....".

I bought my first vette at age 25, so people that know me know it's not a midlife crisis thing. Now when I purchased the stripper pole for my living room at age 44...that was a midlife crisis or as I like to call it...a dream come true.

When asked if it's a mid-life crisis, I simply say, "No, it's a crisis if you can't own one."

Default I'm 47. Midlife happiness.

I love speed, acceleration and the ability to totally jam through turns fast(my favorite). Sure I like the looks of the c7 but I really bought it for what it does first and the looks second.

Why do people think people like us only like the car to show that we are still young, hip and vibrant? Does a car make you look younger? I don't see how you are what you are. No, we buy then because we appreciate hot cars and the power and handling of the car and it makes us "feel" younger.

So I thought it might be interesting for us to post witty comeback for when people hit us with that question of middle age crisis or middle age crazy.

I'll start, "oh that's not my car I borrowed it from my 80 year old mother and she is going through her late life crisis my other car is piece of **** Prius like yours. ."
I'm 47 years old which is past midlife considering that lifespan is 75 for male.

I just tell them I retired from the military and I worked my *** off in 5 war zones and 20 years for this car...

That is usually when they shut up and smile...
