Texting with iOS 11 in a C7

Very strange. I had an iPhone 6 with IOS 10, and in my 16' C7 I could send and receive texts via Siri using the buttons on the steering wheel.
I could actually have Siri read to me the in coming text. Now I have an iPhone X with IOS 11, an I have no problem sending a text in the car via Siri, but I cannot receive incoming texts via Siri. I spoke to the Chevy help team that handles bluetooth problems, and the assured me that, because I can send texts, the problem is not with the car. I have spoken extensively with the tech department at Apple, and we tried every possible solution with zero results. They said it has to be a glitch with IOS 11 as opposed to a glitch with iPhone X. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
As of yet, Apple does not have an answer to the problem.

So, activating Siri via the normal methods, and then saying "Siri, read my text messages" doesn't work?
I can absolutely send text messages in my 2014 with my 7+/iOS11.2 (did it yesterday).
I haven't tried receiving them in the car for a while. I've done it before, but it's been a while -- I'll try it at lunch.

What are your texting settings?
Can Siri work when the Lock Screen is active?
Can you see Text Messages on your phone when it is Locked?
If you have the "lock screen" protections enabled, things will nto work with your car. Since your phone is in your pocket it is "locked" and if you say, don't show texts on the lock screen they are not published to the car.
This is the same reason why the car can't send texts without using Siri as Apple has no way to "send" texts while the phone is locked.

Did you try this? Go to Settings, then to Do Not Disturb and scroll all the way down to the bottom to "Do Not Disturb While Driving" , specifically ACTIVATE...there are 3 options you can use: Automatically...Manually...or When Connected to Car Bluetooth...

My "do not disturb" is never activated. I think I have tried everything!

Nearly ALL of the iPhone interface issues are with the phone itself. My iPhone will do goofy things on every car I own (Corvette, Silverado, and Honda Pilot)
I'm not particularly concerned with text messages, but I do hate it when my Pandora doesn't work. After listening to Pandora for the last three years, I find it difficult to go back to listening to the radio with its annoying DJ's and non-stop commercials.

Make sure under Touch ID & Passcode (under Settings you have all these sliders ON).
Also check Messages under Notifications (also in settings)

Side question... will my 2014 read/send texts? Didn't see anything in the owner's manual about that.

Yes, even without CarPlay the 2014 and 2015 can read texts. Either thru the cars stock interface, or thru Siri Eyes Free (Hold down the wheel button to access Siri instead of MyLink voice commands). Siri Eyes Free can also send text, but the cars built in system CANNOT.
