Default Parking brake failure?

Did some searching to see if anyone else has experienced this. My corvette rolled down a hill and I'm 99.99% sure I had the parking brake on. Just wondering if there are any other reports of parking brake failure or if I was just being absent minded.

Thankfully the damage was cosmetic but I'm still looking at probably involving insurance...

Yay.

Should be easy enough to check now.

Wasn't it in gear as well or did you leave it in neutral?

I have a habit of parking in reverse especially because it is an electronic brake. You might have experienced a failure or just forgot no way of knowing if it was you or the car. Sorry to hear about it. The only time I leave it in neutral is on level ground with the top off when I have something valuable behind my infotainment screen, I just don't trust that electronic brake.

I would swap the battery first, my battery lasted me 4 years but then it started creating all sorts of codes to be put out because it didn’t have the right voltage.

Three times now in 90K miles (almost 5 years) I have neglected to engage the brake. And, yes, of course, that would be the times I had it in neutral. Once it rolled midway through a small parking lot - no damage. On another it rolled a little, I got the brake engaged.... and, er, ah, the "big" time cost me a new door.... gulp.

At least relevant comment to this 2017 Thread! Always best to put in gear BUT I never do!

So far in 5 years have not forgot to set the brake. I never put it in gear as we're flat as a pancake around here! It's an old habit from when cars had 'real' bumpers and I had to parallel park by '41 coupe, then '50 Ford and it was warned IF someone hit you bumper when parking behind or in front it could hurt the trans when the car moved! Probably true!
