Tire Dressing

Tire Dressing
Wondering what you guys are using for tire dressing. I have been using Black Magic Dressing in the tube. It has been good for awhile now I notice tires turning brown like when you use that cheap Armour junk. Anyone using a dressing that will never turn brown. ? Thanks ..V

Sonax, made in Germany, is the best product I've used. It does not yellow, protects, and revitalizes the rubber. It's also rain and wash resistant, lasting through a couple of washes.

Are you talking about Sonax in particular or run-of-the-mill tire goop? I hate that stuff too. This stuff is different.
You only have to use a small amount on an applicator pad, and it produces a subtle, satin finish that just looks like clean black tires.

Your tires will always turn brown no matter what you use on them. It's just a matter of how long before they turn brown with respect to what you use to clean them. When I cleaned mine, I used Lemon pledge on a rag. They looked great. But as with any tire shine or cleaner, it makes the tire slippery around corners. I remember using an SOS pad to clean my tires years ago and they looked pretty good as well.

Being a newbie to the C-7 section, I'll jump in and promote Mop n'Glo. I know, I know but DiamondBack Tire that puts whatever sidewall you want on a new radial tire recommends it and I have found it to be excellent. Squirt some on a rag and wipe it on, no overspray to deal with.

I'm a big fan of Griot's Garage. They have several different tire dressing products from low shine to outdamnstanding shine. Take your pick.

Using the greasy dressings makes them turn brown faster because the dirt adheres better. Using a small amount of Sonax and wiping to a satin shine, does not cause the browning like virtually all other dressings. Mine's a daily driver, and I generally apply the Sonax every other month through both rain and washes. The tires stay black.

Shiny tires are ghetto. I use Bleach-wite from Walmart, give the tires a scrub with detergent and a brush. Then I use original Armorall, spray it on and buff it off. You get a new looking tire with little shine.

Agree about shiny tires, that's why I like the Sonax satin finish.
303 Aerospace Protectant is good stuff too, and I use it for a lot of things, but Sonax produces the same effect and lasts longer.

303 hands down. New tire look without the shiny messy look. If you get it on the wheels or paint just wipe it off and you're good to go.

The brown is caused by a chemical built into the rubber to protect it from UV rays, and it works it's way to the surface as you drive. It can be difficult to remove and takes a good cleaning including some scrubbing before applying any dressing.

Man that is a new use of the word ghetto. There are a whole lot people that like shiny tires that I wouldn't consider to be ghetto. To each his/her own. I just don't like dirty tires.

Some think applying dressing is a substitute for cleaning tires and it's not.
I've used some that leaves a greasy residue all down side of car, I hate that!

I use Mother's Reflections advanced Tire Care. Satin, non-oily finish. Protects against brake dust and UV damage. Makes your tires look like new and lasts for weeks.
Mother's has many products! This is part of their Reflections Product Line that I have not found in stores, only the net. I use it on an applicator, and never spray directly on the tires.
