C7 seat solution 2017 Z51
#42
I commute between Seattle WA and Eugene OR every weekend (311 miles each way). Best seat was my BMW 5 series with "active sport M" seats. These are a very nice and comfortable set for a sports car. Good support, nice grip and like the cooled part. When I picked the car up I drove LA to Seattle 22 hrs in two days and not a complaint. I'm average size too 5'11" 200. It still is a mass produced car and that is why there is so many after market parts and tuners. If something doesn't specifically suit your taste you can always tweak it and customizes it to yours.

I have to agree with dfrieman about the seats. They are too narrow. I'm 6'2" 210 lbs and the seats are too narrow for me. I end up sitting on the side boosters instead of between them. In fact, I find the entire interior to be significantly smaller than the C5 that I came from, even though the car is almost identical in every dimension. I don't see how anyone much taller than myself could fit in this car. Also where did the storage space go? My C5 had three bins in back with the center one being quite large. My GS has one small bin. While my GS is a better car in most ways, it is not better in interior space and storage. My 2 cents

I have a Fiesta ST w/Recaro seats and I find them a nice fit. My old 14 Shelby GT500 Recaro seats were even better. For both of them I sat in between the side bolsters while in my Stingray the bolsters push in on my thighs. The Stingray bolsters should have been designed to cradle the thighs, not curve into them. And no i am not overweight, I am a runner, in shape and retired Army.

I have a theory that most of those complaining about the seats have never been in a respectable world-class sports car of another brand. The C7 finally has seats befitting a world-class sports car. You won't find "barcaloungers" in any other serious sports car either.

I have a theory that most people have driven enough cars during their lifetime to know what is comfortable, and what's not.

And by the way this is my 2nd C7. Went from a 14 base 2lt to a 16 Z51 2lt. I absolutely Love everything else about the C7 so I put up with the seats.

Burning Brakes
A good start would be to make the bottom bolsters adjustable.

The rest of your jab at me was off-target. There was no condescension intended, and I don't know where ego-inflation came from, but my point was intended as a reality check to look at every other true sports car on the market today. Seats very similar to those in the C7 are essentially the standard.
Go sit in a 911, and these are actually a lot more comfortable. Most Audis, BMWs, MBs, are not sports cars. Compare the C7 seats w/ those in R8, AMG-GT, or M4.
I'm also speculating that many here have just moved from generation to generation of Corvettes. There's nothing wrong with that, but without experiencing other sports cars, one wouldn't know what preferences are most in demand for sports car seats today. Market research is done to decide these matters, and those who loved C5/6 era seats lost the preference battle by a wide margin.

With the option list for the Corvette being what it is it could behoove GM to design another seat that could suit those that can't find a good fit in the now C7 seats, then for a nominal (yeah, I know that's kinda funny) the buyer could pick the seats they want. Just a thought.

Not a bad idea. I suspect they would have if they were getting a lot of complaints.

For those with a Walter Mitty complex, offer the competition seat in it's present design for them.
For the few that really think they need a 'race' seat for doing HPDE's, then they should get the base seat and then use the money saved by not buying the Walter Mitty seats to buy real race car seats, and a harness bar and 5 point belts from the aftermarket.

Lets see...
The people complaining have not checked out the seats in other sport cars like Porsche, blah, blah, blah.
Nope, I don't care what type of seats they have. I don't own one and I don't feel the need to tell people that my seat is just like the seat in a Porsche.
Didn't the people complaining try out the seat before purchasing the car.
Well I can't speak for others, but I ordered my car so I couldn't try them out. They did not have a car in stock with suede inserts when I ordered my car to try out. Secondly, they don't feel uncomfortable until after an hour or so driving so a quick test drive wouldn't have mattered anyway. And third, I've never had a GM vehicle before that didn't feel comfortable to me.
Personally, I think they could have made the bottom (between the bolsters) a little wider on the standard seats and they would have been fine for all but the people who track their car and the wanna be racers. For them, there are the competition seats but that is just my opinion.
That's about all I have to say and I probably said more than I should have because nothing I say is going to make my seat more comfortable for me. I didn't post to bitch, just to agree with the OP that I also find the seats uncomfortable after driving awhile.

I searched Google and found this link to the drilling of the bolsters. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1587792764
Just scroll down to post 110. I do a lot of DIY projects and I actually work in a garage, but this scares me a little too much to attempt. Probably because I figure it'll cost to much to fix if I go wrong

Oh, and those "horrible" seats in my C6 Z06...well...they hold me in my seat when I'm pulling 1 g on the street(like Tail of the Dragon, Pig Trail in Arkansas, Hwy 15 in West Virginia, etc.,) where I actually drive my car. It has 51,000 miles on her now, with only 52 of them on a high speed race track(Talladega). Funny that I can drive for 500 miles and not be uncomfortable, and do that nearly every day while on a two week road trip(actually did one 839 mile drive in one day only stopping for gas, food and a couple of **** breaks).
I have owned several Buicks as daily drivers. Very comfortable seats, but I don't think any of their seats will fit in a Corvette.
