Default 2014 Stingray, new purchase

I'm thinking about buying a 2014 Stingray with 14k miles.

Before I do, are there any mechanical or technical issues that I need to double check? Any recommended repairs or upgrades?

(If you read my earlier thread in the C6 forum, I WAS leaning towards a 2009 Z06, but then I found a green 2014 for less money and I love the look)

nothing major, just get all the recalls done and you'll be fine. Ask if the infotainment screen has been replaced and probably a good idea to find the in service date.

2014's seem to be the most reliable... Traded mine in a couple of months ago for a hellcat but it treated me great and I loved the car.. what are the details of the one your looking at? Color options etc?

I see. The CIU is giving me attitude on my current car, too (a Fisker Karma), but they're out of business so replacing it isn't an easy or cheap task anymore :-( Is the CIU covered by warranty in the Corvette?

Green metallic with 2LT Kalahari interior... it's the exact car I wanted to order in 2014, but the dealer said it would be a special order and could take up to a year, so I moved on to a 2012 Fisker Karma. But here we are 3 years later, I'm a little tired of the Fisker, and I find the car I wanted in the first place!

The Fisker should have a trade value of around $40k, and while the dealership doesn't have a price listed on the Vette it should be around the $42k mark (based on others I found online with similar mileage), so I'm hoping for a near-even trade.

I was at an Aston dealership last week and they have a '12 Karma and they're asking 64k CAD, 15k kms.

Is the one you're looking at a Premier Edition or did those only come in 3LT's?

No question about it - the Stingray looks GREAT in Limerock Green.

That's about right for a Fisker Karma Ecosport like mine... they go for about $50k USD, so that's about the same conversion. But I've seen them on CarGurus for 6+ months, and I don't really want the hassle of trying to sell mine outright... hundreds of time-wasters wanting to test-drive for the fun of it, blah blah blah.

Mine has just over 26k miles (about 42k kms), and I've done all of the updates and upgrades to it; software updates, exhaust, replaced some batteries and modules, pretty much everything except replacing the CIU.

If you've never driving one, you really should! 980 ft/lbs of torque (double the Stingray)... I'm gonna miss that.

If you were looking at buying one there, make me an offer :-)

It doesn't say Premier Edition anywhere, so I'm not sure. What's the difference?

That's the edition it was....wow, gotta love the torque, but where do you get something like that repaired if schit hits the fan?

PE, not too sure of the differences, mpuzach says only in 3LT, probably a special plaque....

I've said it before, but green was the color I wanted but was no longer availible when I ordered my '15. Cool color.

I'm in North Carolina, and last year I left it plugged in during a storm and lightning ran in on it, frying some of the charging modules and one battery. It still ran fine on gas, but wouldn't charge.

I ended up having to take it to Philadelphia for repair, which was an 11 hour drive :-(

BUT!!!

It's such a rare and cool car (mine is #658) that I've never once even gone to dinner without someone asking me about it. I drive down the interstate and people pull up next to me to take pictures, no joke.

So it's not the kind of car that you would expect to just be perfect from day one, and it's not a car for someone that's shy or stuck up. This is a car-guy's car.

Same here, exactly! I was crushed when I found they'd stopped making it in green, and I've been loosely watching for one ever since. I don't know how many were made, but it does appeal to me to have something that no one else in town has :-)

14's came with a 5 year drivetrain warranty, more than any year since. Mine was great, A6 trans bulletproof.

I've had my 2014 for a year now. Best thing you can do is get the battery replaced. It will cut down on the Gremlins.

Do a search here on CF for 'Infotainment Flicker'. Lots of threads on this issue (see the one below). Almost all '14 C7 are now passed the warranty cut off. Research with Chevy Dealer if replaced on this C7.

IF at all possible, get the Service Record from a GM dealer. That will tell you if there were any problems to be concerned about. Generally, 2014s are rock solid. I bought a CPO 2014 Z51 and glad I did.
Limerock green was on my preferred colors list when I was looking. That green with a Kalahari interior is a great combination, really Pops! Hope it works out for you.

One of the most obvious differences is the wheels. Premier Editions have unique wheels as seen below:

They also included the Corvette matching luggage set, Z51, dual-mode exhaust, hood stinger, and carbon fiber dash, all of which were available as options on any 2014 Corvette. Coupes were Laguna Blue, convertibles Limerock Green. All came with the 3LT Brownstone interior.

Finally, they had unique VINs beginning with 300001.

a. The infotainment screen (as stated by others) could cause you grief
either not working, blinking or refusing to open and close. Although
by now that would have raised (no pun intended) an issue

b. The battery, if original may be near the end of it's life span and it's
more of a pain to replace (in the trunk now) and you need to deal
with a few that might not fit (Optima Red/yellow tops for example)

c. Some rare examples with bad elsd's (differential)

I've had my torch red 2014 Conv. 7MT 1LT Z51 for alittle over a year and it has been as advertised. Enjoy.....
