GS coupe or ZO6 coupe for mostly cruising?
Might trade in the C6 soon. Frankly I don't use it enough.
The C6 interior is just not comfortable for her, and before you start flaming, she's 5'6" and thin.
Pretend for a moment that purchase price is not a big issue.
I know the interior is supposed to be a big improvement, but:
for combination of speed, comfort, fun and general touring with spouse aboard on longer trips, what is your opinion? GS or Z06?
In both cases, looking for strictly NON-track use.
Thanks!

No brainer... GS all the way. You don't need 650 hp to cruise.
Just my 2 cents...

Either is fine the Z06 makes a great cruiser just as much as a great Super Car!

All C7 Corvettes are great cruisers. The Grand Sport and the Z06 use the same suspension and tires so the ride and handling is equal. The GS is basically the Z06 without the supercharger. It is a question of do you want the highest HP Corvette or not?

You'd be better off with a Stingray over the GS or Z given your planned usage. Better ride, lower consumable cost (tires, brakes, etc).

A co worker of mine had a c5 zr1 and now wants to get in to either a c7 z06 or Camaro ZL1. Knowing it's his money/his choice, I let him know about the C7 GS as a better choice for him but he's got HP in his eyes... He wants to stomp anyone daring to step up when he goes for groceries. Yeah, he said he'd never go to a track but he 'needs' the ZL1 or Z.

Which ever you choose?? The Z will get ya the same POP cruising by.The Close-up of the Emblem is your only give-away.
For you the driver if you need less than 1.5 Sec. to accelerate from say 45mphr in a 35 zone to 80 mphr. while Cruising get the Z..
The GS is plenty TROUBLE...And Save 14k For Tickets and Mod's...
Cause you too could be A CRUISER

In the GS it takes a huge 12ish seconds to make it to 120ish mph. If that's not good enough, get the Z. If your not street racing or doing freeway roll races, you will be in the same car for cruising purposes. Same looks, same breaking, same cornering, same comfort, just one gets to 60 and 100 faster.

I had the same decision to make and bought the GS. Only on days when my ego flares up to I wish I had the Z06. After two months of driving the GS the ego flares are getting fewer and farther between. It is an awesome car.

For cruising I would get the GS over the Z06, but for me I would take the Z51 over the GS for cruising. The Z51 and GS will accelerate the same and cornering for everyday driving is about the same. Personally I like the slimmer look of the Z51 and I think the little rubber lips around the GS & Z06 wheel wells look like a cheap add-on. In any case you will be happy with the car.

If it's just for cruising the base Stingray is going to have the most comfortable and compliant ride. But people spend a ton of money adding widebody kits to their Stingray, so if you like the look of the GS and Z (and I know I do, including the spats), then step up to the GS.
If you like to rip 0-60 from the lights, then the Z can't be beat, even if you're not going to track it. But the GS LT1 is still plenty quick.
For cruising I voted with my wallet for an A8, 3LZ, Z06 Convertible. Can't beat it!

If you are just cruising get the stingray. You don't need wide tires, wide fender flares or 650 hp to just cruise around. I like the look of the Z06 best by far but the base or Z51 stingray is no slouch!

Excellent point. This is the same thought process I went through before I purchased a Stingray in May.

NEITHER. nice leather dashes only go so far, and then you have to contend with a smaller car than your C6. the ride can be ameliorated with the magnetic suspension; but the room available for "general touring on longer trips" is fixed. the wider tires than your c6 make for a bigger bass drum in the back of the c7 coupe, so you will need to put in sound deadening material to reduce the booming for grand touring in either GS or Z06.
on down the road for the out years take a look at Barrett-Jackson. The difference between the top of the line highest horse powered vette in 1967 and its more "reasonably" horse powered little brothers can be $300,000 or more; this on an option that only cost about $600 then. Now Chevy has priced the GS so that it can easily exceed the Z06 in msrp, based on option choices. but option values on anything but the motor get so quickly forgotten in trade-in allowances.

If my left brain was making the decision, I'd buy a GS. Same great looks and a bit better mileage. Right brain was doing the thinking though and it was blown away by the numbers and the noise, so I ended up with a Z06 in the driveway. Absolutely can't go wrong either way, but if you're just going to cruise it save a few bucks and get the GS.
