(or even worse, should I be worried that I might not even get a 2018 and might have my order bumped to being a 2019 and having to wait even longer, much like what happened with a lot of the 2014 orders getting delayed and bumped to 2015 production instead?)
The new production rate of 12 cars per hour will be the ongoing production rate with the goal being improved quality. I imagine they will do what they need to do to meet demand, but that shouldn't be an issue until the next big thing comes along.

Interesting...I've been thru the plant tour twice. First time my parents took me when I was a kid in 1985 (talk about overwhelming to a nine year old who idolized Vettes! ), then after I bought my first Vette (2008 Coupe) I went back and took the tour again to see the C6 in production. Now that I have a C7, looking forward to going back to see it again after it opens back up and tours are allowed again.

It will be sad to see the staging area for the new cars be empty.

I am sure there will be improvements, but not to the level many may think. Example: elimination of OP. Not going to happen. Less yes, entirely, NO.

Thanks so much for the information and the photos. Now that I have a better idea of what's happening, time-frame-wise, I'm ready to rock and roll. Just waiting for a certain email to arrive and it's time to pull the trigger. Stay tuned.....

Thanks Jeremy, I'm so glad we got there again last year to see the old plant one last time. The wife, and I are looking forward to seeing the new stuff.

BTW, I've had two friends visit the plant recently for the first time just to see the doors closed. I told them why, and they both said they should have ask me before they went as they know I keep up with the events there. I just smiled, and said "next time."

You may have some valid points, maybe not. Bowling Green will try to get out as many cars as possible for 4Q earning$.
Order now, if you dont like what you are hearing as production starts you could cancel your order. (up to a certain point).
I ordered on 7/3.

Hah! I don't think this is likely to happen.

I spent yesterday at the great Gilmore Car Museum in Michigan. They have a very early (prototype, I think) generation one Corvette there, and you can clearly see the weave of the fiberglass fabric through the paint. I actually thought this was not a flaw, but interesting as a reflection of the nature of the car.

We just got in under the gun. Ordered our '17 Stingray April 12, and got the Buyers Tour for our car May 15 just days before some '18's started up. We were so afraid we might have to wait till 2019 to do the build tour. Anyone who orders, should do this at least once.

I think the retool is designed for many years to come and the C7 is just the start. Probably a good idea to start with an existing model for a few years instead of introducing the new factory with a new generational design.

It's hard to believe the "old" assembly line needed updating!!

they arnt retooling for c7,but c8,the c7 fixtures are just being re-arranged to fit in-line with the new paint setup and c8 production line

it would be cool if somebody that lives around there would swing by on the back roads and get a few pics of the fixtures being moved around

You're information is incorrect. They are definitely retooling the C7 assembly line.
