Default 2017 C7 convertible rattle

Rattle in convertible mechanism on passenger side above the window. Is this a warranty item? Apprehensive about taking it to just any dealer for service... Does Chevrolet provide corvette owners any access online or by phone to corvette engineers to obtain their thoughts and direction to correct?
If so, could anyone who knows please provide access info.
Thank you

A rattle is covered assuming they can find it, which also assumes the tech it's assigned to puts any effort into it at all. No, we don't have any special access- Corvette or bargain basement car- same service.

It's probably the hard tonneau cover rattling on rough roads, which has been reported by others. Mine did it occasionally, also on the passenger side in the rear window area, when hitting a hard bump, but it went away when I installed the DSC Sport MSRC shock controller. The DSC device does a better job of shock cushioning than the OEM MSRC controller. It actually cured all the minor interior rattles in my convertible.

Others have reported success in stopping it by installing rubber insulators where the cover seats against the body.

Dealer visit is your best option, let them fix it no charge.

a friend has a rattle in the actual top of his convertible 2016 Z06,and, the dealer has no clue; they sent it to a convertible top company, but, they could not fix it,so, a GM engineer is coming to check it out. It sounds like the 3rd rib is loose. GM should replace the top !

castaway, if by "window" you mean the windshield check to see if your sun visor is in the clip. No kidding, they will sound like there is a rattle in that area. I hope it's that simple for you. Good luck.

I have the same annoying rattle sound on the driver's side, right above my head. Luckily, the top is down 97% of the time.
I'm pretty sure it just needs a quick adjustment.
But I'll have dealer check it out next time I drop off for recall work...

There is a service bulletin out on the 2016 Z06 concerning the factory installation of the wrong size screws in the top frame. My dealer had to order the correct screws and subsequently install. The new screws eliminated over 50% of the rattle but did not completely cure the problem. I have not had time to take my car back to see if the dealer can make any further adjustments. Let me know if you need additional info on the correct screw part number.

I get that too Jimmie, but I can usually get her to stop talking.

I have the exact same thing on the right rear passenger side of my 2017. Sounds like wind noise but I can find no leak. I had the dealer check it and their response, as usual is, "it's normal". My left side also squeaks over bumps.

Nah, I solved/prevented that from happening in 2001. I have ESP.

I feel the same way. I'm not going anywhere near the dealer if I can diagnose/fix it myself rather than risk damage...that's why this forum is great. WE'LL figure it out.

I had a car with a rattle that really sounded as if it came from the passenger door, but it was from the passenger sun visor not being clipped in.

My coverible top noise is the latch for the tonneau cover when latched with top down. I can make it go away by just barely unlathcing but as soon as you go over 30mph the computer squawks. The stereo (bass) really makes the rattle prominent. I don’t know a good fix yet.

Anyone dealt with this??

2016 (delivered 12/2016) w/3k miles. It is not the top bows like some describe and I have confirmed the noise as the latch by latching and unlatching it with the bass/strereo playing which causes the noise.

Would love to see a detail of the latch mechanism from a tech guy to see what could be loose or causing the rattle. It is something that was not originally present so it has to be something that has worked loose IMHO. Anyone out there have a detail of the convertible latch mechanism for the waterfall/tonneau cover?
