Question for Comp Seat Owners
For those of you Competition Seats who also opted for the 3LT/3LZ, can you tell the difference in leather between the Nappa trim and the Mulan trim seat surface trim?
I was surprised to find out that regardless of the interior trim package, all Competition Seat surfaces are Mulan leather and only the 3LT/3LZ GT seats have Nappa leather.
Sort of hurts the $2K Competition Seat upgrade charge considering you lose about 50% of the Nappa leather you just paid for with the 3LT/3LZ trim level.

I have the Comp Seats, and the difference is not that apparent. Keep in mind, discounts are deep, so the $2k for Comp Seats, 3LT is not as bad as you think.

I have the Comp seats as that was a must have for me. If you plan to really drive the car and fit in the seats they are the best investment. If you go with a black interior it is virtually impossible to see any difference.

At least with the Spice Red, you get some of your money back with the added red on the dash and door panels. I really like the Comp Seats as test drove them and they really have a secure feel, however I can understand they may not be right for all body types.

I ordered the comp seats but because of the leather situation (paying for better leather I wasn't going to receive) I went with 2LZ plus the nav/PDR. If it was another color interior I would have paid for the 3LZ but after looking at the two trim levels in black I decided not to pay GM extra for leather I wasn't going to receive.
And if you fit them properly the comp seats are VERY comfortable. Especially for longer trips I like them more than the premium trim level seats in my Cadillac ATS.

Thanks. Yeah, black would be easy, however I'm leaning towards Spice Red or Adrenaline Red. Since the seats meet up next to the center console trim and leather, I wonder if the difference is very noticeable.

^^^ Thanks. Nice steering wheel and airbag cover as well!
Is the optional "Grand Sport" center console armrest also Nappa leather or is that Mulan?

The leather on my comp seats is not textured like the 2LT/LZ seats. It looks more like the napa surface for some reason. But i also have the microfiber inserts so there's not much leather to be seen.
i had 3LT in my stingray with regular seats and now have 3LZ with comp seats in my z06 and don't notice the seat leather differences whatsoever.

Anyone have info on the Grand Sport floor mats in the photo?
Are they GM mats?
Are they GM mats?

^^^ They are part of the Grand Sport Heritage Package. You can order them separately from GM Parts.

The logical reason that they didn't use Nappa leather on the competition seats has to do with wear. Mulan wears better than Nappa and with the competition seats being designed for track days, the leather will wear better than if they had used Nappa.

I say it's purely to cut cost. GM didn't find value in providing an entirely different cover just for those who spec'd 3LZ and comp seats.

Perhaps. On the other hand, if you look at who chooses standard vs. comp seats, fat people are more likely to pick standard, and they will wear out a seat much faster than someone in a comp seat who tracks. Wouldn't it have been better to equip the standard seats with the more durable leather?

As for cutting costs, if they really wanted to cut costs on the comp seats, I don't think they would have gone with a painted backside.

I have a GS Collector Edition so I have the tension blue and comp seats. You are saying it is a different material on the center console than what is on the seats? I wouldn't have known had you not said anything. I'll have to look more closely now I guess.
