2017 GS clicking noise when cornering
Update at post #12
As part of our charity work, my Corvette club gives terminally ill cancer children semi-spirited rides around a church parking lot. Yesterday, after one of my runs, a couple of guys mentioned that my car makes a click-click-click noise when cornering. This is the first time I've used my new 2017 GS for this. I can't hear it from the cockpit, but more than one guys verified that they heard it. Does anyone have anything similar going on or care to hazard a guess as the cause?

If you roll your windows down and turn slowly in a tight circle you'll probably hear it. Not an uncommon thing with the GS, there is a TSB for it. Essentially they pull the wheels and clean the mounting surfaces real well and then put them back and re-torque them. Fixed it for me, the question is if it will come back...

Thanks for the info, Ken. I have noticed this lately as well; I thought it was just a rock stuck in my tire. I'll go hunt for the TSB and make an appointment with the dealer.
Do you know if there's any potential ill side effects if you don't have the TSB fix done in a timely fashion? Just trying to figure out when I can get to the dealer in the near future.

Service Bulletin mentioned on my work order is PI1498C. There's a copy floating around in these forums as well, but my service dealer knew exactly what it was when I called them and mentioned it to them. They deal with a lot of Corvettes though.

Oh, and I'm not aware of any side effects, sounds like that the surfaces are not meeting well. You may want to just get a torque wrench out and loosen and re-torque the wheels if you're up for that, it may solve it...
When I read the TSB before it sounds like they just use a scotchbrite type of pad to clean the surfaces, didn't seem hard to do but I figured since I was going there already and I'd prefer to have it recorded in case it came back....

If complying with the TSB doesn't fix it, other things that I've seen cause this are: 1. A loose spindle nut. 2. A loose hub. 3. Bad heel bearing. 4. Parking brake cable that came out of a bracket and was rubbing the inside of the wheel.

I agree! I'm never get excited about going to the dealer for stuff, but the more people that do and get it reported and recorded the better....in case there is some long term fix that comes of it or it comes back....

On my C6 it was the wheel center caps causing the clicking. I removed them and put a light film of grease on the star portions and then no more clicking.

Update ... borrowed a torque wrench from a fellow club member this morning and tightened all of the lugs to 100 ft lbs. Some (most) were at 80 ft lbs. Later this afternoon we drove the kids around the church lot again. I had a couple people listen and nobody heard any clicking. Hopefully, the problem is solved. Thanks again to Mountainears and the rest of you for your advice.

I have this problem as well.
Is whatever is causing the clicking damaging anything? i.e. do i have to get it fixed asap or not?

Mountainears (post #5) didn't think it caused any issues, but if torqueing the wheels didn't fix it, I was concerned enough that I was going to schedule a dealer visit. Having mis-mated parts rattling against one another doesn't sound good to me.

Well, noticed that my clicking noise has returned....I'm going to mention it to my dealer that it has come back and see what he says. I'm not making a trip down just for that. I was just there for an oil change, stupid me should have listened for it before then but it is frustrating that it is back. To me it means that it is something that will be recurring.
I might pop a torque wrench on it for the heck of it, but I also want the dealer / GM to do something about it though, doesn't seem right....

Remove the wheels, clean mounting surfaces on the hub and wheel & then torque them to spec.
failing to torque them to spec will make the issue reoccur.
I did this 5k miles ago & I haven't heard any noises since.

Yea, been there, done that, I posted that info earlier in the thread. I can certainly do it myself but I want the dealer to have it recorded because it is an issue that shouldn't happen. If everyone goes and fixes it themselves then no fix would ever come.
All my wheels were pulled off, surfaces cleaned and re-torqued by the dealer at 4300 miles. Now at nearly 8,000 miles it is back again. So I'll get the issue recorded again.
