Default Crazy thought-do side skirts make anyone think of side pipes appearance wise only?

I have been debating on whether to get side skirts on my Z06 which I did finally order. I have been thinking for a while what the side skirts bring to my mind and then bingo its the side pipes on the C2 and C3 Corvettes! I KNOW IT IS ONLY APEARANCE WISE but do you see where I am going with this??????????????????????????

SIDEPIPES....

SIDE SKIRTS....

Rooster OG try again just something that hangs off the side of the car . The only thing that comes to my mind is side pipes and when it comes to SIDE PIPESand SIDE SKIRTS people either love them or hate them!

Not seeing it either, but on the right car, side pipes are very cool! Older vettes look great with them.

My first Vette was a '69 427 w/ side exhaust. These "skirts" hanging off the sides of these cars are nothing like side exhausts. Not even close.

No. I have a 66 with side pipes and a 16 with side skirts and there is nothing similar about them.

Dave, I think you would be very disappointed with the look after the fact. The design of the C7 Z06 is complimented by the full length side skirt.

Makes me think of DeeZee running boards but certainly not sidepipes on a classic Vette.

No.....side pipes are side pipes. Side skirts look NOTHING like pipes.

Go ahead-put side pipes on your C7.....we'll wait here to see that

The C2 still turns my head. I'd love to have one with an LS engine, modern tranny, suspension, and brakes.

I think I get it OP. Its a conceptual thing. Obviously side pipes and side skirts don't look alike, no one would confuse the two at a swap meet. However, they both do have a similar conceptual appeal. They both provide a visual focal point at the bottom of the body. A line, if you will. An accent. A finishing edge instead of the body just stopping 5 inches above the ground. I added skirts to my '15 a month after delivery. Along with a splitter they outline the bottom of a fine sculpture.

Side pipes in their day looked good, as for the side skirts on the C7 they are okay add some protection I guess but look wise just an okay.

Side skirts look like running boards. Some people install them to shield the car's rocker panels from stone abrasion (?).
