I have said, it is hardly needed with the C7, it rarely comes on, but when it does, it bugs me so I would rather not ever have to deal with it.

But the light is only on for a second like when cars tell you when to shift. And it should only come on when I am basically crawling, like pulling away from a light or in a jam correct?
You may not know this since its not your car, but will the original connection be hanging freely, or should I ask if they have the original connector?

if you can jack u0 the car o r put it n a lift just remove and repug. Very easy.
Frankly with todaysdistraceddriving I would not drive without it. First time it happened to my I was in bumper to bumper travic. Car would not shift to 2nd and having installed CAGE eliminator in my C6 thought it was me. Car slowed to craw. Had the person behind received a beep on their phone could have been in my rear
For $20 bucks if you own a jack easy install and no issues. This is a silly thread. Justifying not adding one is a wast of electrons IMO !!

If it's hanging loose it will hit the exhaust.

The thread really wasn't about "should or shouldn't". It was about learning how it works and it effects on the car. Its just morphed a little into both.

Carry on . . . The little things that bother people never cease to amaze me. What does revving "from 800 to redline through every gear" have to do with anything being discussed here?

OP - it doesn't hurt the car, doesn't impact warranty, won't have any discernible impact on fuel economy.
If you like it, leave it on. If not take it off.
But, no worries with it.

If I only tracked my car, or only drove it occasionally for thrill rides, I'm sure I wouldn't encounter it nearly so often.
And you're absolutely correct - I *could* adjust my driving habits to avoid shifting in that narrow band. My point was, for $20 or less, why not eliminate the goofy "1-4" gadget all together so you don't HAVE to even think about it?

I daily drive my Corvette, so I may encounter the despicable "1-4" more than others. For example, I'll encounter it when making a left turn at a 4-way stop. In situations like that, I'm typically not revving the engine up at all (no need to 'drift' through every intersection in residential neighborhoods), and the "1-4" forced missed shift in the middle of the intersection is annoying as hell.

Not trying to start another argument, but if you can hide those in your grille they do work. They don't scare deer, but it freezes them because they hear a noise. Its like when they hear a leaf crackle in the woods, the sit up straight and listen. In the car instance, they wouldn't dart across the road, they would wait and listen to see what the whistle is. They might go after, but hopefully you are passed them by then.
That said, I don't have them.

For someone who finds this thread silly, you sure are posting a lot. I am finding it informative. It is unfortunate that you are finding it annoying.

It wasn't me who found it annoying or silly. I'm finding it very entertaining. You got the wrong guy . . . try JerryU.

Drifting
i am not going to debate this. I have read several articles that say different. Plus, i have seen it in a car that had them. Now, it could have just been the noise of the car that caused them stand up and listen, but that is big coincidence considering i have driven by plenty of deer that didn't sit up and listen when i came by. But let's not get off topic here.

What is it about shifting from 1 to 2 before 14 mph or after 18 mph that you don't understand? That little 4 mph window between 14 and 18 sure is important to some people.
