Default Are bent Z51 wheels worth repairing?

I replaced my 2014 Z51 Chrome wheels with black Z06 reproductions a few months ago. I knew that a couple of them were bent. Probably from too many rumble strips on track days before I bought track only wheels/tires. Turns out 3 of 4 have a wobble when spun on the balancer.

So my question is are they worth trying to get repaired? And would anyone on this forum truly want a set of wheels that came with a disclosure that they had been repaired.

They're taking up space in the garage so trying to figure out the best path forward.

Here's an opinion....

If it is the rim barrels that are bent...then yes repair possible.
If it is the rim run out that is bent/ wobble...I'd say junk, this is a bad rim.

Would I personally buy a used aftermarket rim with a disclosure? No.

Good luck in your decisions.

There seem to be quite a few take offs available. I don't know if you could repair one for what a used, straight one would cost.

Z-51 are forged aluminum... which makes them stronger but i suspect, a little more difficult to repair. Get a quote from a wheel repair shop

Unless someone has a process and equipment designed to true these up, I'd talk to the scrap metal guy and see what you can recover.

Much debate on this, I have heard they aren't forged.

MOST dealers have a rim repair guy on call. They are a mobile unit that comes to where you are. Done this with various cars over the years with GOOD results. good luck

Repair is possible. A friend of mine just had a bent wheel on his TTS repaired and he's happy with the result.

Getting them repaired should be no problem finding a buyer with that disclosure will be a problem.

Default Rim Fix

I had vibration on my c6 and had a rim guy reshape them round and got a great ride and great tire ware. The cost was about $175 per tire. I would do it again.

I have two full sets of wheels - tires for my Z51... both sets are OEM Wheels, one with original tires, the other set has cold weather Michelin AS3 rubber. Occasionally I have bent a wheel from pot hole damage (roads in the North East are horrible!) I use Wheel Colission Center in Bath PA. They are excellent both in wheel repair and in cosmetic reconditioning. I have had good experience with them with my Vettes and BMWs. They also offer a wide selection of OEM 'take off' wheels. Nice people to deal with.... If you need them to mount and or balance, they also have the latest Hunter mounting equipment and Road Force balancing machines. They now also do motorcycle wheels. Check them out....

No other posts in the last 2 years? Can it be safely said that bent Z51 rims aren't as prevalent as some of our friends and owners here with Grand Sports and Z06's?

^^^
I've seen very few posts regarding the Z51 rims bending. They are rotary forged which helps to some extent.
