At what point on gas gauge do you normally get gas?
During the driving season, I usually get gas when the gauge is between 1/4 and 1/2-unless I am going on a long trip and then I just top off the tank. I have never been below the 1/4 mark mainly because I only fill up at selected stations where I know they aren't going to spill gas on my car-no self service in NJ and I don't want to run it near empty which can be bad for the car.
Curious at what point in normal situations others usually fill up. I gather most people fill up instead of getting say 10 bucks worth.

Fuel in the tanks acts as a coolant for the fuel pump in the tank, as such, you should never go below a 1/4 tank in the summer time. And apparently we should refrain from keeping the tank too full at all times...
So as the OP says, fill er up when going on a trip, and add fuel between 1/4 and 1/2.

Usually fill when ~1/4 tank or more depending if I'm near one of the stations I purchase from.
However recent info says it's better to keep in below ~1/2 tank as that keeps the sender measurement rheostat (I assume it's a rheostat or something similar) out of the fuel. There are a number of posts of fuel sender issues caused by sulfur in the fuel creating a buildup and failure of the sender! Replacing in a Vette requires removal of the drivetrain as I recall!
In fact since I don't always use Top Tier (which is supposed help dissolve the sulfur with it's cleaning additives) I use a container of the GM recommended gasoline additive (it's specified in the Owner's Manual) at every oil change. In fact one poster said his dealer solved his sender problem by adding two containers for $100! (GM Fuel Additive Plus ~$12 on Amazon and Techron (probably what GM stuff is, ~$9.) Others have talked about the horror they felt to see their whole drivetrain on the ground when the dealer had to drop the dual fuel tanks!

Are they still doing that stupid crap! Why don't you guys in NJ change that. Leaving NJ was the best decision in my life....
Never understood the "I'll just put in $10 or $20 instead of filling it" people. It's not like after that $10 or $20 runs out you're not gonna put more in right? The only thing I can think of is that you're too damn broke to afford it. But if you're driving a vette and can't afford to put in another $5/$10 or $15 to fill it then you bought too expensive of a car!

Usually fill-up between 1/8 and 1/4. (No self service stations here in Oregon either).

at the 1/2 mark which is usually about 7 days of driving for me. So, every Saturday I make my Costco run and hit up the Costco Gas Station on the way out since it's the lowest price in town for top tier go juice.

It is usually less than the 1/4 full mark for me.
