Interesting, the screen on my 2017 is a lot and I mean a lot quieter when lowering and raising than my 2014.

Isn't keeping your concealed carry in the cubby cause an unnecessary delay if you need it?

Cubby is for the brief and rare times we have to go into a Criminal Protection Zone (aka Gun Free Zone) like the Post Office. It's out of site, and very secure if you use the valet code to lock the screen.

The Kimber Solo fit well until I sold for being as temperamental as some folks' A8 transmissions. Now my dad's old S&W .38 Spl rides there sometimes.

On a side note, a full size Kimber .45 ACP fits perfectly in the center console with the end of the barrel nesting neatly into the space beneath the power outlet cover. It snaps in like it was made for it.

I rarely feel the need to carry a weapon in the car, so mostly the bin is used for the little junk that old guys need, like blood pressure pills, breath mints and contact lens supplies.
