Hopefully the driver will be ok .... looks like a classic example of texting and driving. See accidents like that here is SW Florida EVERY day. Not with Corvettes thankfully.

Just this morning in Houston neighborhood, an off duty officer(possibly dui) in the Tahoe hit and killed the driver in the Corvette. Tragic.

They should send this guy to jail for life it if really was a dui. We all know we shouldn't do that, there is no excuse. But what is worse, one of the roles cops to enforce that rule. He deliberately disregarded the rules and his responsibilities.

Again, assuming dui.

From the damage, it looks like the driver crossed the center line.

Here's more on the original post. Serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The driver of the Corvette is a former employee of mine. His mother just left my store and filled me in. He rented the Corvette and basically it was a 5 car pile up and the truck behind him landed on top of him. He is relatively OK and the young lady with him had minor injuries.

I would hope the c7 is much better in the safety department vs the c5.

I can't believe he's alive.. that's a bad hit in a BAD spot.

I'm a firefighter of only 3 years now but I've had some similar extrications to this, just not with a Corvette.. glad to hear the injuries aren't life threatening

Reminds me of this -

The car crushed by the big rig was a Chevy Cruze.. amazingly the driver of the Cruze survived because the roof above him held despite being crushed downwards.

I've been rear-ended by a pickup truck (back in 1986). NOT fun, although I was able to get out the car and walk.

I hope the young man and lady are going to be OK in very short order.

Glad he is ok. I have to say when I am next to a lifted pickup I feel so vulnerable. I know its anathema to mention regulations on this forum but sometimes when I see some of the modifications that some people make to their vehicles with no regard to the hazards they create for others it bothers me. I'd image it would be easy for a pickup to roll right over the hood and into the windshield killing the Vette driver while the pickup guy would be unscathed.
