Perforated Leather Seats- Big Con
Does anyone else hate the perforated leather? To me it just looks cheap and that it will not last. I have seen Vettes from the 70's with the original seat that still looked great. The current offering just does not look like it will live up to the test of time.

I got the suede inserts since the leather was too slippery when I test drove one. I was sliding all over the seat.

Like spearfish I also ordered suede inserts with my Z06. I have the competition seats and I didn't particularly care for the look of the suede steering wheel which is forced with the suede competition seats but after driving the Tail of the Dragon a couple of weeks ago I have come to appreciate the great grip that suede provides on the steering wheel. Ventilated seats also works very well with the suede inserts and hopefully they hold up well over time. I have owned a lot of vehicles with perforated leather ventilated seats although none for more than 7 years and over that time I never noticed any unusual wear.

I have had 3 Verts with the perforated seats. C5, C6 and now this C7. None of them showed any un-warranted wear after many years of use. My Corvettes have all been Convertibles, which means they have been exposed to the SUN a lot. And, as far as sliding in them during "spirited" driving....I have NOT noticed that at all. I think the interior of the C7 is the BEST LOOKING, Comfortable and Functional of any of the 5 previous Corvettes I have owned. Of course this is just my opinion.

I like the look and see no downside to them.

Inserts are not suede they are microfiber. If they are the same combination of materials as my XLR-V seats they don't last as long as leather or real suede would.

I absolutely love the perforated leather seats w/ ventilation. It's a "must have" in a convertible, and between those and the HVAC, it's actually possible to be comfortable w/ the top down on a 90ºF+ day.

I understand the OPs idea perf'ed seats have a wierd visual effect. Didn't much care or it in my C5, but didn't have a choice. (Previous vehicles with leather were not perf'ed, and neither is my home furniture, so it was different).
C7 has HVAC seats; once you use it, reason/need for the perf's is obvious.
Not too concerned about wearing through. My C5 is almost 16 years old/115k. Have a separated seam on the left bolster, but the leather itself is not worn through anywhere.

The microfiber holds up great. If it gets matted (usually not the seat but the wheel and shifter), use Sonax foaming microfiber cleaner and a microfiber towel. Like new again.

MUCH more durable than real suede. (In which you can't do this do in order to make it new again.)

Yes, I agree faux suede is very durable, and I also highly recommend the Sonax foaming microfiber cleaner as an excellent product. I used it religiously on another car w/ light tan inserts, and the "suede" still looked new after 5 years.

I have my vented seats on nearly every time I drive. A great feature that requires the perforated seats.
