Finalist 2020 C7 of the Year -- Unmodified
I just bought a 2008 in 2009 with the LS3 436 HP and when the GS came out in 2010 I did not budge because my base 08 had the same motor.I will do the same again with my 2014 Z51 with the same motor as the 2017 GS BUT LET ME SAY ONE MORE TIME IF I DID NOT OWN A C7 I WOULD DEFINATELY BUY THE GS OVER THE STINGRAY EVEN WITHOUT THE INCREASED HP OVER THE STINGRAY but history has repeated itself for me again.

The GS is going fill a nice niche in the Corvette portfolio. Faster on a road course track than a Stingray, although not as fast (or as expensive) as a similarly optioned Z06. Widebody styling for those who prefer that.
Basically slotting quite nicely between the Stingray and the Z06. This gives the Corvette buyer a portfolio from which to choose that makes it much easier to configure a Corvette that fits quite well what the customer wants. Pick what you like, decide what your needs are, and how you'll use the car, and grab the model that fills that role. The great thing about the C7, is that unlike the C6 which was greatly overshadowed by the GS from a styling standpoint, the Stingray is a damn hot looker in its own right. So it really will come down to what you want, how you want to use the car, and which one best fits the bill.
It's a great addition to the lineup.

they say that about every new Corvette they test! So what does this make the Z06 ? Second fiddle to the GS ? Why would anyone spend the extra money for the Z06 for a street car then? Just for bragging rights ?
The more things change, the more they stay the same!!

I have come to really like the GS. Although a little more HP would be nice I think the look of a Z06 without the Z06 price makes it a great car. After all as the article states, "have you ever tried to fully exploit 650 horsepower on the street for anything more than a fleeting moment".
I think the GS will sell well but how much it will canabilize Z06 sales is yet to be seen.

Lets see this car is going to cost you at least 70-75 grand with just the average options.... and I am sure any discounts in the first year will be minimal at best... then you have a car the looks like a Z06 without the power but has this magical name "Grand Sport".... There are tons of 16 Zs in stock....do your homework find one and play hardball for the deal...you can be driving a true supercar for 80k.... but hey to each his own .. if the GS is your dream go for it

It would make sense to make the Grand Sport's horsepower in between the Stingray and the ZO6. I've done that with an exhaust, TBS and CAI. But GM should hover around 550, as previously stated in this thread.
It's cool that the magazine likes the Z51 engine so much. Makes me feel good about my purchase.

If it were only a true wide-body…rather than 1/2 wide-body and 1/2 cheap spats. Then it would be as special as when the C6 wide-body arrived!

Will sales of the stingray coupe and convertible drop to a third of production when the grand sport hits full production?
1/3 rd stingray
1/3 rd grand sport
1/3 rd z06
Nice car that I believe would have been served by 500 hp....maybe when the camaro z28 debuts? The corvette grand sport will get the hp but to over 500?
That's supposed to release next year as the new camaro z28 and to differentiate from the camaro 1 LE
I could see a hotter cam and a more aggressive PCM tune.
As it is 460 hp is enough but a little more is always fun.
50 more hp than the stingray is what is needed for people to justify the new car payment...
Some will buy anyway....but more would buy with an extra 50...
Gm would not be able to keep up with production for a few years...
Maybe we will get lucky

We need to resurrect this post in a few months when it comes true. C&D is like a hooker, they'll say anything to generate money.

This is a joke, right? Did they test it? And if so, what are the numbers? Did they blow-up the engine like they did with the last two Stingrays tested?
