C7 could use side blind spot cameras
just got my wife a new Honda pilot (she's had a Honda since her first car and the new 2016 pilot is pretty nice, and a lot of room and pretty cumfy, I wanted her to get a Cadillac srx but boy are they small inside) and it has the blind spot camera in the right mirror (would be nice to have both sides and its pretty easy to use, either hit the button on the turn signal stem or turn on right turn signal).
I would say its a pretty nice "stock" item that is really handy.
The C7 could use this for sure and maybe proximity sensors to, I added the navtool and put the front side cameras in the bumper facing more forward, now I regret that and wish I would of done them in the mirrors maybe???
Really should be a standard on all cars as a safety feature to have blind spot cameras and reverse cameras IMOP. paul.

My God use your mirrors, turn your head do something besides asking the car manufacturers to keep adding cost and features you do not need.

It certainly could. Don't want to hear about the mirror settings either. Amazing with all the safety items we continue to get shoved down our throats, car manufactures are allowed to design cars that you can't see out of. Yes you can work around the visibility issues, you shouldn't need to. Chevies top of the line car, missing one of the most important safety items? Proximately warnings would be nice too!

No thanks.
How did we ever drive without back up cameras, blind spot mirrors, crash avoidance systems and front cameras? Was like the stone age
If your mirrors are setup correctly there should not be any blind spots. If there are, I turn my head like drivers have been doing for 100 years.
I'm a technology guy but some of this new car tech makes drivers lazy. "Look, I don't even have to move my head!" So what?

Agree, pretty soon we are all going to be passengers and we will be asking where the fun of driving went.
No thanks.

I agree. The C7 Coupe is much harder for me, than the C6, to see out of when backing. It has taken me a long time to get used to using the rear camera view when backing. I am sure with any orther camera it would be difficult also. I am one of those that say its hard to teach the old dog new tricks . To each their own...

In the future side view mirrors will be replaced with cameras. My guess is they will have screens on the A post. A huge decrease in aero by losing the mirrors. Not my idea of a good deal but change is coming. I hate change.

IMHO, Lane change assist would be a welcome addition. Drove a SRX with it and really liked it. One more tool to avoid an accident.

I was not a big fan of the camera technology on some cars. But after buying my wife an Infiniti QX50 with Around View, I am sold. It is amazing to be able to see everything around the car when parking.
Now, on the other hand, the QX50 has collision avoidance, which applies the brakes anytime you come up on another car. That is freaking annoying.

Went to Amazon and bought a pair of those little round mirrors and stuck one in the lower left corner of the driver's side. $3. 15 seconds. Problem solved.
My BMW has the light/detector option. That works good too $$$$ )

I think the only thing they've yet to offer is a front forward cam integrated into the nav system. Instead of being faced with the chore of looking out the windshield, drivers could simply stare at the dash, or better yet the camera could be run as an app on their smartphone.

Got the safety package on my '15 Impala (blind spot warning - both sides, Lane departure warning, front collision warning) and all are very useful, especially the blind spot warning. I too can't understand why the Corvette does not have at least the blind spot warning since it is so high tech anyway. I still turn my head to see if something is behind me, but the little yellow lights in the outside mirrors are a quick way to see if something is beside you without having to turn your head away from looking forward.
If you don't like the added safety features that's OK.
