Wrap fob with aluminium foil to prevent scanners...serious?
My first push button start car, I find numerous sites warning of scanners and advising metal containers for fob.
Is this valid?

No, nothing to be concerned with would not give it a second thought.

Were they wearing tinfoil hats?
Seriously, if you wrapped your fob in foil, the car wouldn't receive the signal. If it's a concern to you, lock your car by pushing the interior door lock button as you exit & do not lock it with the fob.

Whatever the threat level is of cloning key fobs, the issue is a violation of the law of supply and demand.
The number of scum individuals ALWAYS greatly exceeds the demand. You need some dirtbags out there to genuinely appreciate good people but not the level that now exists. Don

Yes, there are many car thieves roaming the neighborhoods and malls of America at this very moment with scanners to steal your signal...did you not watch " Gone in 60 Seconds"? This is a known problem in the wealthy areas of any city, they really are after the Bentley's, Ferrari's and all the high boy pick up's they can get to the docks to ship to the drug cartels in South America.

This is not a problem I would really worry about. Leave the tin foil off and enjoy the car.

Alrighty then, no foil hat for me like the evil lawyer on Better Call Saul... Talked to a retired E/E who used to design ATM's for Sperry and it's a problem.
Just wanted to know what the consensus was, we all have theft coverage. Over&out.
