CAI consensus?

CAI consensus?
I pulled my AFE cold air intake before a trip to the dealer and it felt like the car was faster with the stock box back on. Any consensus about which unit works best?

I'd leave the stock box in place... there was a big link on air filters and the like... basically the Stingray and Z06 share, so they are getting plenty of air, and the air is better filtered.

I wouldn't make a quick conclusion with a CAI in and then out - my understanding is that the ECU takes some time to readjust.
I will say that leaving an engine stock is a good idea. But if you're gonna mod it, make sure you actually mod it - I'm not sure in this day and age if "dabbling" is worth the money.
Note that nearly every package build out there incorporates a CAI, forced induction or not. So there's something to it. In the tech section there are dynos that seem to show that a CAI does something.
I suspect that a CAI works well with a tune and other breathing/flow changes, like throttle bodies, headers, exhaust, etc. A tune should go without saying. I think you go all in or not at all.

^^^^ This is true-it took a while for my ECU to adjust to my Hallteck CAI. With that being said, I really like this mod.

Steven did you get a tune for it? It's not there in your magnificent mod list.
Some people like it just for the sound. Even then, it's still 1/3 the price of an exhaust..

I think they are useless on the C7 unless you just like the look.
There is no such thing as a CAI for the C7. The C7 is not a bottom feeder like the C5-C6. You can put a different air box on but unless you do some type of mod to grab cold air from outside, its not a CAI.
Even at 700 rwhp all I have is a green filter.
Just my opinion.

The AFE makes for a louder, more aggressive "intake sound", however the "Green Filter" has such a great flow rate, you'd have to flow-bench test both to compare what flows more.

The C7s' original equipment, AFE and others are all CAI, as they source their air from under the car's front right corner, flowing through the front fender cavity then into the under-hood airbox. The AFE makes for a louder, more aggressive "intake sound", however the "Green Filter" has such a great flow rate, you'd have to flow-bench test both to compare what flows more.
