Default Valeting a Vette

I know most of you shudder at the thought, but think of the fun if you do.

I called down to the desk to get my car, and this was the ticket number.

What are the odds for a LRG?

This picture is looking out the window in the hotel in Charlottesville, VA. When I heard them bring it up .

That's pretty funny.

We've valet parked our C7 a few times - no issues at all.

Last fall we stayed a few nights at the Oxford Hotel in Bend, OR. The valet there actually asked me to please park it in the valet area. I told him it was okay for him to do it, and he told me they 'need to drive them all the way around the block to the garage entrance' and he would really prefer if I did it if I didn't mind. He said he would meet me upstairs in the valet area and show me how to get into the rooms 'the back way' while another person helped my wife to the room with the luggage. I could tell he was really nervous about driving it, so I took it around. Nice young man - gave him a good tip too.

BTW, the Oxford is a really cool place with great service if anyone is on a C7 road trip thru Bend.

It's not for me. They park the valet cars closest to the hotel, theater, whatever as they can and to save space they jam them in as tight as possible. That's what concerns me most not some valet racing my car around.

I rather park my car as far away out in the far back parking where most don't park because it's too far to walk.

I valeted my Corvette once. Once. It was my C5 at a local casino for my company's Holiday Party. Came out to find the valet guy had got into a front end accident with it. I'll never valet again.

If there's a valet involved, I'll take my F150.
No way I'm valeting my C7.

Once I had to Valet, no choice.

Told the attendant I'd prefer to drive my car to the parking spot (which was across the street) and he could ride along in the passenger seat with me.

He said he had a better idea and pointed me to one of a dozen closer spots in front of the hotel 40 yards away, where I could drive to myself.

Problem solved.

PGA last year at Whistling Straights, stayed at The American Club in Kohler. Lots of ultra-high end cars.
Asked the big Kahuna in charge of doormen/lobby etc what AC's policy for valets driving guest vehicles was.
Told coldly they've a one strike policy.
Valets cannot exceed 10MPH, at any time.
Squealing of tires no matter how slight & regardless outside temp results in immediate termination as will exceeding speed limit.

These kinds of jobs don't pay bad for surrounding area & tips are great.
Losing a job there will hurt.
Threat serves its purpose, AC can valet my Corvette anytime.
Any other place, maybe not.

I'm sure many valet drivers are ethical and will treat the car with respect but I just couldn't forgive myself if I did that and found some looser beating the car.

I'd rather park it myself and walk further than expose myself to the unnecessary risk. Plus, I have an inherent dislike of paying for something so easily done myself. Don

What about it ? It does nothing to limit the cars power .... My hellcat would reduce power and that was a good valet mode.

Our simply limits the radio, locks the glove compartment and records if you have PDR.

What's that gonna do lol...

It gives you evidence of what a valet did while in your car, but therein lies the problem.

It is evidence after the fact, not prevention before the fact.

I have used valets for my Vettes over the years at hotels and casinos with no problems.Last year a friend asked the valet at the Winstar Casino to park his car at the entrance. The valet smiled and pointed to Ferraris,Lambos and Aston Martins at the entrance and said no room for you.

No way I'll valet my Corvette(or any of my cars).

On a trip to California in my Z06, I stayed at the Aquarius Casino in Laughlin, NV. I wasn't going to valet my car and a good thing I didn't. Pulled up in front and saw a HUGE speed barrier. It as around 8"-9" tall, around 3' wide plus with about 30 degree ramps. I don't think my daily driver sedan would have cleared it without high centering. Of course, most people just hand over their keys and never look under their car when the valet returns the car to them. I watched them drive a Toyota SUV over the barrier and he slightly cleared.

I checked in and the valet wanted my keys. I said no and I wanted him to stop the traffic behind me so I could turn around and drive out the entrance to the parking garage next to the casino. He told me to drive over the speed barrier and use the exit, that it would be okay. I told him I was not going to destroy the bottom of my car. He finally let me go out the entrance.

If I had just pulled into the casino, handed over my keys to the valet, and let them unload my luggage, and he then try and drive over the barrier to go to the parking garage, my vacation would have been ruined(I was with six other Corvettes that were at another hotel/casino).

The barrier was loaded with terrible scars where other cars had drug. Some were a half inch deep in the concrete, yet the valet was okay with driving my very low Corvette over the damn barrier.

I have been unable to valet my C7. All I can think about is the Ferris Bueller Ferrari valet scene ...

Starts @ 1:43 mark.

or how about this tool who will take care of your Corvette while you are on extended leave!

Only had to Valet it once, at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation, where there is no self-parking available. They parked it VIP up front - it was great
