Wow! I have not been this confused about a purchase in years.
I have been researching Radar detectors and still have several questions.
1.) I am looking for the best performing detector out there I only want to do this once so price is less of an issue.
2.) I really want to keep the install clean as possible so looks are important to me as well.
3.) I want to keep false alerts (with all the in car radars) to a minimum
The passport 360 max I almost settled on, but the reviews are not that good and it seems like they are invading your privacy.
The Escort redline seems to be the best long range, but seems to have a lot of false alerts.
Any Ideas?

I really like and use the marking function and have all of the radar trap locations in the area marked so it provides a verbal warning as I get close. Reminds me as I am cruising along.

I like the Max 360 but that's for a 2014 Arctic White 2LT Stingray Z51 MN7, don't know how it would be for a 2016 C7.R

Has not alerted once???
I have the Max 360 installed now for a couple weeks, but it has not alerted once. I am beginning to think it may not be working....

Do you know of any school zones that have the road sign radar set up? Thats a good way to test.

By the way, the Max 360 had a fairly recent firmware update (maybe about 3 weeks ago) to reduce a known falsing bug, so if you have one, update the firmware to 1.4

Im in a high population area and have alerts for red light cameras, school zones, etc... The cool thing is after I pass these a few times, they show up on the detector, but it does not alert me anymore. Mine is working great. Did you get the blendmount and mirror tap?

Download the windows or mac version of Detector Tools from here:
https://www.escortradar.com/productregistration/
Install and then plug in the detector using USB. You'll see options to update from there.

If you have an Android smart phone and a desire to tinker your best bet is to get the Valentine 1. When using the Android application YaV1 with the Valentine One's bluetooth module you can customize the V1 to eliminate almost all false alerts. For instance in my state X-band radar is still only used in one poor municipality. So I've setup my V1 to ignore all X-band signals. This eliminates a huge amount of false alerts. I also went into the YaV1 app and uploaded what are called "custom sweeps" to the detector so that I can eliminate falsing from noisy Cobra radar detectors as well as many of the new radar-based cruise control and lane change warning systems.
Furthermore the YaV1 adds GPS lockouts just like the Escort. However instead of using a subscription it learns the location of false alerts based upon your phone's GPS. It is a much more advanced system than what Escort offers.
There are a ton of good videos on YouTube that can help you program your V1 using YaV1. Without those videos the programming would be overwhelming for most users. Here is a good overview of what YaV1 can do for the V1:

If you don't want to go to all that effort the V1 is still an awesome detector when in "Full-Logic" mode which is easily accessed from the front panel of the unit. This mode does a nice job of cutting down on the number of false alerts that you'll experience.
I would stay away from used V1s on eBay. Valentine One probably won't upgrade an eBay unit to the latest firmware unless you have the name of the person who purchased it. They do this to prevent the spread of stolen detectors. Do yourself a favor if you have an older V1 and go to their website and enter your serial number to determine what upgrades are available for your specific unit.
I don't recommend installing the detector underneath the rear-view mirror as it really decreases your visibility in the C7. Instead mount it to the windshield using the included suction cups on either side of and partially above the mirror.
If you do mount your detector on either side of the mirror you will probably find that the standard Mirror Tap (it allows you to get power from the backside of your rear-view mirror) is too short to reach the detector. You may need to splice in a section of cable, or use an in-line connector and another section of RJ-11 cable to reach your detector.
As far as laser goes, all of the detectors will only tell you about laser after you've been hit by it. Essentially they only function as ticket detectors. To avoid laser tickets you really need a jammer. The AntiLaser's AL Priority system is most frequently cited as the best of the best in laser jamming. Unfortunately they are pretty pricey. You need to be careful how you setup and use a laser jammer, however, if you live in a state that specifically outlaws their use.
