Default 2017 order form shows Z51

Lingenfelter post on Facebook shows order form for 2017 Corvette.

Interesting to note the Z51 package is clearly on the form. I tried to link but could not.

Had a feeling since the GrandSport was announced that they would at least offer the Z51 still for 2017.

Who knows what will happen for 2018, It probably will depend on how 2017 sales go if they decode to keep it for not.

I think Chevy has claimed that the new GS will be quicker than the Z51. Not sure how this can be.

Different gearing and/or diff ratio to get a faster 0-60?

I have no clue, it's just a wild guess

I bet the GS will have the same gearing as the Z51.

Wider tires and larger brakes(GS will have the carbon ceramic brakes optional, and the GS base brakes are off the base Z06).

Lame, GM should have offered a 500 h.p. N/A engine for the GS.

I agree. I didn't understand when they did the same thing on the C6. As I understand it the GS will have same motor as the Stingray. What I don't know is will the gearing make the GS a little quicker.

They used Z06 gearing on Manual C6 GS and a different rear gear for Auto C6 GS

What they are doing for the C7 GS

Don't believe so, people are only going with what little info GM has released so far.

We should know more specs by the end of the week and everything in the coming months.

People really shouldn't be speculating but this is a public forum so....

Power and gearing is listed in the order guide.

If the GS and Z51 have the same transmission code they have the same gearing.

The order guide is your friend! USE IT!

http://www.gmfleetorderguide.com

EDIT: I just checked, same trans, same diff ratios.

The only way this is possible is with shorter gearing... if anything the GS with the Z06 aero will definitely be slower with the increased frontal area and the extra down force... it will however be a bit more hooked up on the track. We have seen that the Z07 aero slows down the Z06 on the track during the straightaways so will less power this will be even worse.

The GS will be quicker around a road course track due to the increased tire, suspension and brake upgrades and the aero.

It may be quicker to 60 due to the larger tire and same gearing - may be able to hook up better off the line.

It'll be slower top end as the Stingray with the same gearing will have better top speed aero.

I expect the GS to be heavier, not sure how much since we don't have all the details, it will be lighter than the Z06 but heavier than a Z51, even if your just basing it on the RIMS and TIRES... with bigger Z06 brakes, that's more rotational mass as well... so despite a hook up due to more rubber... it's gotta be slower.

I agree. GM should have found a few extra ponies for the GS version. You know, make it really special. They missed a great opportunity. Having said that, I think there will be a HP power bump in MY '18 that will include the Base version.

This is likely.

And I see the straight line reduction versus the increased cornering as a wash out. GS should be on par with Z51, stock.

However if you add power to the GS it will need less tweaks than a Z51 car (as the rest of the package is up to snuff). So a 500 hp version of each car the GS would be faster, and as you add more power the GS would continue to get faster well FASTER!

No they didn't. The GS had it's own gear ratios while the ZO6 and the base had the same gearing. The ZR-1 also had it's own gearing.

The GS needs carbon wheels to bring the weight back down.

I wonders how long it will be until technology makes them economically feasible.

Thoughts ....?
