Default D-shape steering wheel

I have been wanting to add a D shaped wheel to my 14 for some time and now want to act please share your opinions on the available options. Gene, as usual has a good price but I would prefer a two tone wheel .

If you want the best of the best, that means you have to go with John Caravaggio. Despite being on the expensive side, you get what you pay for though and in my opinion that makes it worth the money.

Price range will be around $2000-2600 depending on how you want it customized.

Here are some examples of Red ones (Seeing how your car looks red on the avatar):

Looks good but impedes drivability somewhat. Interferes when using fingers to control how fast the steering returns to center. I would rather have a round steering wheel.

When you trade your car for a 16 or newer save your steering wheel.

Maybe I'm just an old fuddy-duddy but to me a $2,000 - $2,600 steering wheel is insane. I don't deny the quality of John's work - it's superb. So was the one I got from DS Vettes for my former C6 at 1/4 of the price.

I like my D shaped wheel (factory), but it's weird trying to steer with your knee, even with the tilt down. Certainly not a deal breaker, just a mere observance from the last time I drove mine while trying to twist the cap off of a beverage.

Don't get me wrong. its a great wheel at a great price, but it lacks the Carbon fiber bezel and leather + stitching on horn pad. Which in my opinion is what makes the Caravaggio wheel stand out from the others.

Usually I do not post private quotes, but seeing how John tells everyone the same price on Instagram/forums. I believe these are his set numbers:

Steering wheel (Depending on Design): $1000.00-$1395.00
Carbon trim: $595.00
Horn pad: $645.00

I will have to experiment with the D wheel and see if I can live with it. I really like the size and feel of my current 2014 C7 steering system. Chrysler offered an oblong shaped steering wheel in the 50s and that wheel went the way of the Edsel. My preference is for the D wheel to follow their lead to obscurity.

A bit to over-done for my tastes. I'll stick with stock round.

Sergio with Vette. Candy makes a really great custom d shape wheel or flattened on top and bottom which I have.. I love it. Had it a year now. Easier entry. Easier hud view great comfort and reasonably priced. Sergio can do it in many different color schemes and designs. Vette Candy is also known as DSV

You can get the c.f. trim plus I got the leather piece from vette candy for only 50.00. I did have to glue it on my horn pad so I don't see what you are saying here. I got the red stitching and all my wheel looks just like the bottom red & black one at the bottom other than the C.F. trim & I really didn't want that.

So vette candy is still way way cheaper & I can live with the price for what I paid him. But do agree 2,k plus hell no I can put that much money to use in other fast go parts...

I completely agree that the amount you have to pay for the Vette candy wheel is WAY more reasonable. And for those who aren't super picky? By all means, go get one; its a great deal.

But if you're telling me that the quality and attention to detail of the Vette Candy wheel is on equal footings with the Caravaggio wheel, then you've got to be joking me. I'm standing firm on my statement that you "get what you pay for." After 1.5 years of doing research on the C7 I've yet to see a company out there that can top Caravaggio in terms of sheer craftsmanship for steering wheels.

For those who don't know, here is what the Vette Candy wheel looks like:

In my opinion, if there's anything worth negotiating on, its the initial purchase price of your car. After that's been said and done and you have an $80,000 toy? Another $2k or $2.5k really shouldn't be a big deal. In fact, if anything, it is BECAUSE I dropped so much money on the car that I want only the best of the best in it.

PS. Please post up your wheel. I'm curious to how it looks.

It's going to be different for everyone, but my replacement wheel really completed the interior, IMO. Very expensive, but you'll forget what you paid for it in a month or so!

The D wheel does not impede drivability in any way FYI. I like the D wheel in my Z06 better than my round wheel I had in my C7

My carbon fiber wheel is from Auto Dynamics West. I contemplated getting the airbag in red stitching, but $650 is a lot for some colored thread.
