It's certainly not something to get upset about.

Once again you are right on point vetteman... I could not agree with you more. I just thought it was kind of a funny story what people think or say sometimes when I'm out driving around. 99% of the time all good comments and 1% of the time I'm just shaking my head, Some guys just took it the wrong way thinking I was wanting to kill the guy or something, it wasn't like that at all.
I get a kick out of the forum..... still giggling at the responses to this thread, Really made my day. No big deal. Just a funny story that's all.
I'll make sure I don't do that again, lolololol cheers fella's. paul

it seems like when I stop at the quik shop or wherever guys are checking my car out (I'm sure this happens to all of us since they are BADA55 cars)
At least once a month or so I get the same old question I got with my C6 "it that a Z06 or not?" Sometimes the guys are just asking to be nice but sometimes its almost like guys are trying to dog on the car since its not a Z06............

No one has ever asked me the Z06 question. But shortly after I received my car, a 2014 BTW, someone got the word around that I had purchased a new 2015 Z06. This was way before they were out.

I have never had that question asked. I have only got the usual compliments.

I've never been asked that question after having owned two C7s. But, I've had a lot of great compliments and general questions about the car.
And, if someone walks up with their son or daughter I will often offer to let the kid sit in the car after talking to them to see where they are coming from.
More often than not, they decline but it is so awesome to see their eyes go wide with excitement either way. Planting that seed of our car hobby's passion with the next generation is important and a great feeling.
Enjoy your car!

What I find very odd with the question, in the first place, is if you know enough to ask if it's a Z06, shouldn't you be aware of the distinct identifiers, at the very least the badge????

I've thought back at all comments my 2015 (built on the second day of production) has received. None of them were negative; not even to the littlest degree.
How many gold chains/piercings do you wear?

The only time(s) someone asked me if it's a Z06 was when I was driving my Z06. Those few actually knew something about the car.
I've never been asked this, otherwise. My observation is that the vast majority couldn't tell the difference between generations, let alone models.

All I get is "how much was it?", thumbs up and stares. (look fixedly or vacantly at it with eyes wide open)

Burning Brakes
Gas station questions/comments
I was filling my 08 one time and a guy with one of those ugly cube things says " We live in two different worlds don't we" some inference to gas mileage.
I said this car pushes 30 miles to the gallon on the highway. How does yours do It got real quiet.
It Just shows how dumbed down so much of our society has become.

In my limited exposure the average person does not even know there is a Z06. Only car people know that.
Never been asked if its a Z06.

Drifting
I traded my 2015 Laguna Blue convertible with black top and black wheels for a 2015 Laguna Blue Z06 convertible with a black top and black wheels. I did not go around telling my neighbors that I had traded.
I did notice that I was getting a lot of very hard stares for a while and finally one of the neighbors came over and said he really liked the modifications I had made to the car. He wanted to know how much I had paid to have the interior reupholstered from black to red as it "really made the interior pop".
As stated earlier, very few people outside true car guys know the difference. A vette is a vette.
