Default C7 Z51 VS. Mustang GT 350

It bugs me that their is a $55K Mustang GT350 that has more HP than the C7 @ $65K.

Does the power to weight ratio make up for the HP difference?

Discuss amongst yourselves...

The corvette is faster in a straight line and around a track. Better in every performance metric basically. Mustang you get 4 seats though and still good performance. Lightweight absolutely makes up for the less horsepower.

I haven't found a gt350 for sale for 55k. All the dealers I talked to have a mark up on them.

I've owned 28 Mustangs over the years. Ford does a great job with them. It never bothers me how much hp a car has for what price because, no matter what you buy this year, something will come out in a year or two that ups the ante in that area.

When the C7 came out, it was no contest for me when it came time to get another 'fun car' in 2015. Considered an F-Type R Coupe and a 'slightly used' Maserati Gran Turismo (I've owned one of those and sold it), but in the end the combination of styling, performance, and new interior quality on the C7 did it for me and I don't look back at all. But that' just me!

526 HP pushing 3,791 pounds for the GT350 with the Track package.

460 HP pushing 3,444 pounds for the C7 Z51.

LBS kill.

I agree with you, but the HP difference still irks me. I traded in a 2013 Mustang GT Track Pack for my '16 C7. The Mustang was a hammer, the C7 is a scalpel.

More HP doesn't necessarily equate to more performance and speed. Know what your car can do and you will feel less butthurt about a car that has more HP, but doesn't carry it well due to the weight.

It would have been nice if the C7 had a nice even 500 h.p. and would have followed suit with the C5 z06 (405 h.p.) to C6 Base 2005-2007 (400 h.p.)

So if it did, C6 Z06 (505 h.p.) to C7 Base (500 h.p.)

Oh well, maybe for 2017 or 2018.

526HP sounds better than 460.

no matter what car is faster, it is little bothersome.

going to the corvette i always thought 460HP was enough, but i do wish it had more.

GM dropped the ball in the C7's bhp department, it should've been at least 500.....anyway, doesn't really matter what the bhp rating is, bhp/lb or lb/ft tq/lb is what really matters.

Are you sure of these figures because the GT350 has the better power to weight ratio ?

GT350 = 3791/526 = 7.34 lbs/hp

Vette = 3444/460 = 7.48 lbs/hp

Ya know..... to the average Joe on the street he wouldn't know a gt350 from a v6 unless someone told him.
But the average Joe will know what a corvette is asap.
There are no 6 Cy vettes no 4 seat vettes.

At the end of the day, when all is said and done, be it as it may, as seen on TV...

When the Mustang driver and the Corvette driver both go home...the guy with the Mustang has a Mustang in his garage, and the guy with the Corvette? Well, he has a Corvette.
