Are you also paying to build your own engine?

My Experience
2015 1st Corvette
Arrive at airport only to find my flight canceled.
Arrange another flight from another airport but can only get to me to Lexington.
Rent car go to other Airport
Rent car in Lexington to drive to Bowling Green.
Arrive Bowling Green about 1:30 AM
Unable to sleep I finally decide to get up shower and have breakfast.
I arrive at the Museum at 7:30 and they are closed. (appt for 10:00)
Someone sees me at door at lets me in.
I explain I am a little early. No Problem offers to find the keys and lets me check out the car. Host not expect until 9:30.
He then takes me to complete some paper work and watch a mandatory video.
I tour the Museum and visit the gift shop. I am done about 9:30.
Host arrives does a few things and we start going over the car.
I am pretty sure he covered every button and setting. Clarifying all my questions.
11:00 is factory tour. The host is my private tour guide.
He is very knowledgeable about the entire manufacturing process and well known as many of the workers would stop to greet us during the tour.
Back to Museum for lunch.
Complete a few remaining things about the car and complete paperwork.
The amazing part. Everyone stops what they are doing to cheer as you are driven out of the Museum.
One last photo.
Leave Museum for 12 hour drive home.
This is a must do experience at least once. Best car delivery I have ever had. Everyone at the museum is very knowledgeable and friendliest people you will ever meet.

I have done the Buyers Tour twice and feel that is A better Corvette experience than the Museum Delivery.
Suggest you look into the Buyers Tour.

I've done it 5 times and my next one will be R8C. I live in California and what a fantastic way to break the car in and see the USA.

We've done it twice. 2008 and 2014. The first time the NCM delivery and factory tour were fantastic. Absolutely worth it. Royalty for a day. Grins from ear to ear and then you get to drive home in the beauty.
That being said, the second time was a let down as our "delivery guy" at the NCM was an absolute bonehead, knew nothing compared to the guy in 2008, and crunched my gears pulling out of the museum. It ruined what was already a marginally good day....and it still pisses me off to this day. We will not do it again. We'll probably do a pick-up on the east coast and just do a road trip home instead.
Regardless of my 2014 experience I'd say go for it. The factory tour is really cool in itself and the King-for-a-Day can't be beat. (ignore my 2014 experience......)
Check out the B&B called Spongie Acres, it is fantastic!!!! We took a detour through BG this year on the way to the Smokys just for the heck of it. The main reason wasn't the NCM but mainly to chill at the B&B and do stuff in the area (Makers Mark for example).

I did it in 2102 with a museum cost of $495.00. I enjoyed the experience. You must see if it's worth the $995.00 + expenses.

I wouldn't miss Museum Delivery. I also did the Buyer's Tour with one of my Vettes, where I was my actual car being assembled from the frame up, and got to sign and date a frame crossmember, the torque tube, and the bellhousing. Ya only live once and ya can't get too much of this stuff!

From the majority of posts I've read, yes it is worth it. If I ever buy another new Vette, the NCM delivery will be a part of it.

Stupid question: I am considering the NCM delivery, but I also know that the first oil change is due at 500 miles. I live about 750 miles from Bowling Green. Is it recommended to try to find a Corvette dealer just after 500 miles, or is it reasonable to just drive straight through and stop at my dealer for the oil change at ~ 750-800 miles?

The Jersey Corvette Club has had members that have done the museum delivery 3 times and would do it again without even thinking about it. The museum published our story of picking up 5 vettes in Sept of 2014....see the Feb 2015 issue of their magazine.
Go for it - a great experience and terrific folks at the NCM and plant to make it special.
