Have not seen yet but I'm going to guess that's the 350R, stripped for track mode.

Don't think my issue arrived yet, I'll look it over as soon as it does. That said, the GT350r is supposed to be a track monster and will beat a ton of cars on the track. It's also a stripper (like the Z/28) and an expensive Mustgang (at 64k plus) but it seems that Ford has done a great job building a track car. The standard GT350 gets pretty good reviews as well.

I read the article in an airport
It is pretty bogus. It is the 350R. All of the posted times has the C7 Z51 faster. To sum it up the final sentence was they did not find the C7 that much fun to drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You think there might have been a little prior bias there ?????
There is nothing at sleek or sporty about the look of the Mustang at all. In fact it looks kinda bloated when compared to previous mustangs.
Article does not support headline.

Once again the Corvette is the standard in which everyone tries to beat. In auto manufacturer's boardrooms across the world all you hear is "how can we beat the Corvette".

When I decided I wanted a performance car, I took a hard look at the Mustang 350, since I'd owned two Shelby's in the past. The new 350 is a gorgeous car and plenty powerful. But, in the end, I didn't care about the numbers-I drive like a little old ladyany way. The looks of the C7 melted my heart.
Buying a car of this nature is like buying a motorcycle; it is purely a visceral decision. After all, no on NEEDS a sports car. It's all about heart, and anyone who tries to justify this type of purchase with numbers is lying to himself.
So, I don't pay much attention to "reviews" in moto mags; I'd rather talk to owners and visit forums to find real world information.
Cheers,
Steve

I can't believe what a misleading cover that is. I've seen bad ones, but this one takes the cake.

But they got people here talking about it, and a certain number will buy the magazine because of it...which is the real goal.

What about the bottom right:
"America, meet your new sports car king"
???? WTF ????

They don't make any $ selling magazines. They make money selling advertising. They sell advertising by doing two things... Keeping their number of subscribers up and keeping the score even. If Chevy won last time now its Fords turn. Now its not this simple I'm sure. The manufacturers have to field a descent car to win. But the manufacturers are their REAL customers. Thats who is keeping their lights on. Remember that when you read articles.
Having said that, its still entertaining.

But the C7 won pretty much every performance category. Not surprisingly, the much more well-equipped C7 was more expensive so it lost that category . It also lost the "Fun to Drive" category.
I drove a 350 on the Sebring short course. It really is a very cool car. But it does feel big. Also the 350 brakes are far better than the testing shows. C&D said they glazed the pads at the track but that sounds improbable.

Great timing, when all the teenagers return to school's all over America next week, teen boys will be all agog over this.
Reminds me of the C&D article ack in the 60's comparing a Pontiac GTO to a Ferrari GTO.

While the cars following the C4s have each improved the mark, the last really fun car to drive - unless you've got your foot into it - was the C4.
Before you want to haul me and and burn rubber tires around me - I've got more than 600,000 miles in Corvettes from C1-C7.
For pure fun to drive my '88 328 B-model Ferrari beats my C7 hands down.

A few months ago, before I picked up my '14 Z51 M7, I was shopping the Hellcat, the Camaro SS and the Shelby GT 350.
The premium they were asking for the Hellcat was completely ridiculous - base msrp is ~$58k and I had one local dealer hear quote me $90k because "they are hard to come by". There were several available from other dealers here so . . . The cool factor was the bragging rights because the interior is low-grade and definitely typical Dodge-looking. Plus, there is no room to add meat to the rear to actually take advantage of the power. Plus, gas mileage doesn't even approach the C7.
I seriously considered the GT350 but was surprised with the only engine option being N/A 5.2L flat plane crank engine with only 526 bhp. I was expecting more and there has been no talk of a GT500. I had a '03 GT as a dd several years ago and was hoping to get into something closer to the current Z06 this time. The beauty of the GT350's looks is subjective - it does look seriously muscular and all business but it also exudes chunky bulkiness. With that look, I was hoping closer to 600 bhp so that temptation to mod it was lessened, being a dd and wanting to keep warranty intact. Also, by the time I had optioned it to my preferences, I was approaching new C7 pricing which I was considering a lightly used option.
The GT350 was not available to buy when I was looking and estimated delivery was Jan. '16 at the earliest and I had dealers alluding to the premium pricing inevitability on this all-new, limited model.
So, when I found my current '14 C7 locally for a great price, I jumped on it and my wife and I feel like we dodged the buyer's-remorse bullet because we absolutely love it. Price was great and the 5/100k warranty came with it.
