Default Transparent Roof

For those of you that ordered you C7 with the transparent roof, how do you like it? Prone to scratches? My biggest concern would be heat as I live in an area that gets over a 100 degrees routinely in the summer.

Default Love my clear top

I'm in Florida and love my clear top. I have the dual tops, one the exposed carbon fiber one and the clear one. While I love the look of the exposed carbon fiber I love the openness of the clear top being able to look up and see the sky. It really opens up the cockpit.
My car seldom if ever sits in a hot parking lot all day, so I really can't speak to the heat situation. Even if it is hotter I would still want it for the open feeling it gives.

At this time I'm having the 'edge spears" painted just like the exposed carbon fiber top, the same color as the car. Will post pictures as soon as I get the top back, which should be tomorrow.

Scratching is not a problem, if you are careful with it while installing and removal.

Love my clear top, it makes the interior much brighter, it's like being in a convertible all the time.... My last car was a vert, and it's great when the top is down, not so much when the top is up.... but it always seems great with the transparent roof.

I have it and love it -IMO no more sensitive to scratching than the clear coat paint.
I live near Syracuse, so I can't really say I've ever had a heat problem in the interior.
I do like that it looks black -when I bought my Corvette off of the dealers lot, I didn't even realize that it had a transparent panel until I sat in it

I had both tops on my C5 here in sunny and hot as Hades AZ.

I only got the transparent top this time, so I'll be ordering this or something like it in about 3 months:

We have two tops – painted and transparent. Really enjoy the more open feeling it gives the interior, and being able to view the mountains, etc. thru the top. Never any glare problem from the sun. I’ve read of some forum members complaining of high interior temps with the transparent top when compared to painted tops – but I dispelled that issue for myself a couple of months ago by leaving the car in the hot sun for 2 hours with each top on a 96 degree day and measuring the interior temperature. The interior with the painted top was 2 degrees cooler – that’s within a margin of error. Hot is hot – doesn’t matter which top you have on when it bakes in the hot sun. We just leave the windows down for a mile or so while the A/C did its job and then put the windows back up.

No scratches at all. Used the painted top for one short trip and I'll never use it again. Just my .02.

Can't really speak to the heat (I have yet to leave my car parked in the sun for any extended period of time as I park in a covered garage at work), but I definitely agree with the others that the Transparent Top totally opens up the car vs any of the "sold" roof options (all of which made the interior too dark and confining to me and my son. YMMV, however.

I was planning on going with the dual roof option until some guys at my local Vette club told me to pick one, as I would be storing and not using the 2nd one the entire time I owned the car. Best advice I ever got about ordering my Vette...

There is a removable headliner for the transparent top that cost around $150.

Same here, probably will never put on the body color top. Love the vertical visibility and really like be able to take it off. Didn't want a convertible so this covers all the bases.

I bought one of these for my 2015 and glad I did. Drove through KY and TN this summer with temps nearing 95. Put it up and turned down the A/C fan. Keeps the interior a little quieter too. Great option.

Love my transparent top. Makes the car feel open as others have said. We love the blue tint. Would not even consider the carbon fiber top.

No problem here last summer, temps around 100 several times. Air Conditioning and seats help though. Love the transparent top.

I like my top but I keep the aftermarket suction cup thing on as its to hot for me in Texas.
It also looks really black and shiny with the cover in place.

I, too, was wondering about the clear top. My previous car was a Mustang GT with the glass roof. I loved the openness and extra light inside it provided, but it also had a shade you could pull closed if things got too hot, or the sun was in your eyes (like over the top of your sun glasses). Being that the clear roof didn't have a convenient shade to pull closed, I opted for the painted roof. Now I really feel closed in and dark when driving my Vette. I am looking to buy a clear roof, but really don't want to spend $1695 for one, and then I would want the aftermarket shade for it.

Transparent top was the only on I had on my C5. Looks great.
Yes, increased light, headroom, and openness of the interior.
Nice to have in spring, fall, and winter.
Fries my brain in the summer.

At 15 years old, it's no longer shiny black on the top...has a haze on it like old headlight covers.

C7 - body color roof only.
