Default A good old guess-The Dyno Number Thread

I go tomorrow for my dyno tune, and since I am as impatient as they come I'm going to start my thread a day early lol.

Anybody care to take a guess as to what my car will dyno? (Yes I am aware all dyno's are different, this is simply for fun) It should be about 70 degrees during the dyno session, shop elevation is ~400 ft. It's a dynojet.

2015 Z51 A8
ARH Mid length catless
AFE CAI
Nitrous (100 and 150 will be used on the dyno)

I'll end up with 3 sets of hp/tq numbers; all motor, 100 shot, 150 shot.

I'm really hoping for 450 whp on motor and 600 whp on the 150 shot, but that may just be wishful thinking lol.

I'll update with actual dyno graphs tomorrow afternoon, and then updated track times. Current best time is 11.55@120 on motor and 10.84@130 on 100 shot. I'm confident the tune will really improve those times.

ARH claims 26 HP with just the mid-lengths. With a tune and CAI I would think 40 RWHP is doable. So motor only 440-450, let's call it 445 HP

I think manufacturer hp claims are usually very optimistic lol.

I honestly couldn't find many dyno graphs of intake header tune cars. It's easier to find graphs for supercharged cars

This is one in NC, I guess there's another popular one a little farther north.

I wouldn't worry too much even if it dynos low. My car runs more MPH in the 1/4 than cars I've seen dyno in the 440s. As long as the tune picks up hp and tq. 5th gear pull my car made 414/440. Bone stock was in the 380s.

You are exactly right.

Mine made 395/398 on the stock tune and 417/425 after the tune on motor.

All the pulls were done in 4th gear. The Dyno operator said that pulling them in 6th (1:1) is hard on the car, and it gets really hot.

Those are good numbers. Also have to take the correction factor into consideration since most tuners don't want to use 6th gear for 1:1 pulls.

Good numbers you got from the car and the 150 shot really bumped it up.

shortest dyno pull...ever!!! Numbers typically aren't as accurate with a non 1:1 gear but main thing is just follow area under the curve.

By "aren't as accurate" you really mean lower. All my pulls were done in 4th gear, the numbers would have read higher in 6th (1:1) but the pulls would be harder on the car.

Or I could just say "when you make power the dyno pulls don't take long"
