Default When will Vettes get a twin clutch auto?

Seems a lot of cars around the Vette's price range are getting these. They're a hoot to drive and much better than a regular tranny (A8 included). Has anyone heard when/if a twin clutch will be part of the Vette offering?

This information wouldn't be available to the public. If anyone here had to guess, I am sure that the "C8" would come up a lot.

I'm sure this will matter to a lot of people....but not to me. I'm happy with my M7.

Been stated over and over by GM engineers that there are no DCTs that will both fit in the space available and withstand the torque. So probably will take a whole new DCT, meaning not in the current Corvette generation. Like Nuclear says, think C8 and your guess regarding timing of that is as good as anyone's.

I've driven an A8 and a DCT. Both are excellent and NOT that much difference either.

I really enjoy a DCT. Its not about the shift speed, its how they feel.

cant stand the torque converted single clutch auto.

But if I'm "required" to have an "auto" for my next Vette (2019) then it best be a paddle shifted dual clutch manual! Tremic has time to make one that fits! Probably planning one now or guess GM will have to go back to a ZF!

All the DCTs I have driven have been very herky-jerky (technical term!!) when in auto mode - I much prefer the feel of the A8 to this....DCTs are amazing when working the shift paddles

from what i can figure, the zora/cadillac mid engine model, planned as an 18 or 19 model for now, 125 to 150 k base price. one will be a chevy, the other a cadillac.

will it be a chevy corvette zora, or a zora manta ray or?

Why would GM invest in the new A8, then go to a DCT. Any future auto in the Vette will be a GM creation.

I don't know what DCT's you have driven but the PDKs in my Panamera Turbo and GF's 911 are incredible even in auto mode. No doubt the A8 satisfies the needs of many C7 owners but my guess is GM will find a way to put a DCT in the C8. But only if they can spread the cost among other vehicles.

Perhaps the C8 will have that as an option or even as an option, but doubt the C7 will offer one.

WHY??? No need for a DCT when GM's A8 shifts as quick as ANYTHING on the market....There are so many articles written about the C7 and the A8 comparing it to DCT's and the simplicity of the A8 comes out on top. I have driven my brothers 2014 430 Ferrari and it has NOTHING on our Vettes NOTHING....

Besides being larger, not fitting and not handling the torque, why would anyone want to add more weight to the car?!?!?

You're not driving a manual in a paddle shifting car. You're not MANUALLY changing the gears, you are REQUESTING a gear change. Big difference.

LoL I've driven both a DCT and now my A8 Vette and they're both awesome. However, I don't see how having something that shifts even faster than what we have will benefit MOST of us. That said, to hell with the DCT for now.

Just checked and as expected Porsche gets their dual clutch trans fom ZF as Corvette gets the current trans from Tremic. Granted they have to spec out power requirements and gearing and how to fit it in the car but it's more a question of product cost than engineering time "to design" IMO.
Some early Vettes used ZF transmissions.

I hope they never put one in. I like my A8 just fine.
