Default Very Strange

I was cruising one of my favorite roads and bam! it felt like I hit one of those 1" thick steel plates that the road constructions crews use to cover holes but there was nothing in the road. It sort of felt like something fell off of the car from underneath but no I checked my mirror and then pulled over and gave the car a walk around nothing unusual. Iam thinking about having my dealer take a look at it but I really hate going to my dealer. Has anyone encountered this type of problem ?

My '14 A6 used to sound like I ran over a tree branch sometimes. It would not do it when I had the Range device plugged in that stopped the car from going into V4 mode. Something happens with the exhaust valves when switching to V4-V8 that makes a loud bang sometimes. First time I pulled off the road, really thought I ran something over. or something fell off Got used to it after a while..

If you have a manual trans and werent in ECO mode where the V4 would kick in then never mind

Check your wheels weights. You'll probably see some fuzzy foam with no weights. Makes a helluva noise when you throw one!

If you can't see anything that looks hit and you are not leaking anything, next time you have it on a lift have a closer look.

Something making that loud a noise isn't normal. I wouldn't take a chance on waiting. Get it checked out.

I agree. A noise like that is not normal and would be worth the time to have the car checked over by a tech.

My car made a strange clack last weekend as I rounded a curve in the road. I didn't see anything but I went back to check and, sure enough, there was a metal plate laying in the road that must have been debris that had been there for a while. I was a good scout and removed it from the road.

Either a spring or a weight usually makes those noises but on a vette, it's a single FRP and the weights are mounted inside the wheels. so i don't think its those on a C7.

maybe a bushing mount.

My wheel weights are not inside wheel, would be damn hard to balance that way.

The car seems fine no codes and it still goes around a corner like its on rails.
I always use sport mode but I didn't think about the wheels weights.
I will check them when I get home tonight.

Thanks

I read that as inside the barrel of the wheel as opposed to on the edge of the rim like on old steel wheels...

thanks BigJoe, i would have never thought anyone could confuse that one. The centriputal force of the spinning wheel keeps the weight plastered against the inside of the rim for the most part, it would only fall off when stopped, or slowed down enough.

I got the impression he was saying it couldn't sling and make a noise, thus truly inside wheel.
