Just a thought to consider changing the stock black hood insert to a color keyed one like I did on my blade silver. Then you'll have just the black of the supercharger instead of the two black areas on the hood. I can e-mail you a PIC of what my hood looks like. Sweet ride.

Can you PM me? I'd like to see that. That may be an upgrade for me down the line.

Cool that Reeves signed the engine, also. That's a nice touch.

Thanks for the feedback on the shifter. That sounds like a worthwhile upgrade.

Enjoy and be safe.
The big thing that I had to get used to was that I like to move the gear lever left and right in neutral to make sure that I'm in neutral when I'm at a stoplight or parked. That's a little harder now. Boo-hoo, right?

Great piece, though. I highly recommend it. I can't quite compare it to other units since I don't really have any experience with other short throw shifters, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I just think it feels nice and SOLID.

The six bolts you see thru the hood need to be anodized black. I Like everything else tho.

Hmmmm.... You see. I was thinking about coloring the raised "Callaway" letters on that part red or something to set them off, but am afraid I might make it rice-y or screw it up. Those bolts are undoubtedly torqued to spec, so I'm not going to be taking them off for anodization - but black paint or something... Hmmm...

Damn your eyes!

Sweet ride! I'm right behind you, I should have mine this weekend. The bolts won't bother me.

I'll tell ya, whoever came up with the idea to sign those covers is a pretty bright fellow
Don't forget to donate to St Jude!

I'm a little late to this thread, been swamped lately. In any case, enjoy the ride. I absolutely love mine. Post some more pics when you can!

I'll be honest with you, I was a little afraid that getting into the SC627 was going to completely throw off the dynamics of the car because I got to drive it for about a month straight stock. I put about 1,000 miles on the car and absolutely loved it - it was miles above my old C6's.

But the SC627 acts like it was meant to have this power, like Tadge engineered it this way! It's incredible - the power comes on incrementally in low gears so you don't roast the tires *unless you want to* so it's not like you're driving an unruly, bucking beast.

I mean, this car is the best car I've ever owned, driven, everything. I kinda wonder what the SC757 is like because the 627 is downright docile in normal situations, but in higher gears, where the LT1 used to feel like it was running out of power, it's like the supercharger is there to prop it up and get it back in the power band.

I just can't believe how good this car is.

Awesome car if you've got the cash. I wanted to have my car done by them, but then realized the $18,000 price tag was essentially for the supercharger and a few emblems. Price goes up to well over $25,000 if you get the optional items. Seems like the Edelbrock or Magnuson superchargers might be a more economical option in the $7,000 to $8,000 price range for very close to the same horse power. Definitely paying for the name. Again, awesome car, awesome company, just too pricey for me.

Definitely true. You are paying for the name and a pedigree. No doubt you can purchase and install the same performance mods from alternative sources at lower cost. Having said that, many (self included) feel it is well worth it. After owning my Callaway SC 580 almost 6 yrs, I was able to recover most of the cost of the Callaway upgrade at resale. Callaway is an awesome brand that commands recognition, respect, and value not to mention the sheer thrill of driving during the years of ownership...

While it's true that there are less expensive options out there if you want to supercharge your car, and plenty of reputable shops that can do the job, I wanted the peace of mind of Callaway's warranty and I've wanted a Callaway for a long, long time. I intend to extend the thing two more years as well with Callaway, too - not some no-name BS warranty that you get from dealers.

Plus, truth be told, I've wanted a Callaway since I was about 10 years old, basically since the Aerobody Turbo/Speedster/Sledgehammer days. Owning this car is the realization of a dream for me, and while this is my 5th Corvette, this one is truly special for me. The only other one I've had that even compares is my old '90 ZR-1 - again, a car that I wanted as a kid.

As for the car itself, I got a smoking deal on a 137-mile CPO car, so I basically got into a 2LT Z51 Callaway for roughly the price of a loaded 3LT Z51 car, so the choice was obvious for me.

It is relatively pricey, but for me, getting into this car is/was/will be worth every single penny.
