Creaking roof issue has a simple official fix

There is a very small set screw that you have to loosen (or carefully remove - don't lose it) and then you manually turn the latch.

Burning Brakes
I placed two washers on each from pin and one turn to tighten rear latch. Helps some but still creaky. I think it's crazy we are trying to fix this when gm should come up with a solution

Yes the part that is mounted on the windshield header... they are now made of a new material which is suppose to eliminate the pop/ creak that is happening to a lot of cars after they sit in sun and heat up.

OK lads, here is the latest info as of 8/20 on the fix creak from the Service Manager at Martin Chevrolet in Torrance, CA, which has four C7s with this issue:
1. He checked and could not find any official fix relating to washers. As he advised me, “Although, that repair may temporarily resolve the issue, unfortunately there is no corporate approved permanent repair at this time. I have been keeping in contact with an engineer group in Michigan over the last several months in regards to your situation. I had even called them directly after reading the forum thread to obtain more information. GM engineer group working on this has no information on a washer replacement.” He asked me to ask SpeedNet what part numbers were displayed on his repair invoice. He also advised me that the “current left side washer p/n is 10336170 and the right side p/n 1033611. These are just standard part numbers for the washers which don't show they have been updated with any new numbers, or were superseded from another.” BTW, for those that want to install the washers themselves, the handle torque is 13 ft-lbs (18 nt-m). See attached diagram.
2. Now to the good news, after a call to the GM engineer working on the fix he advised me that that “He only was able to discuss that a fix had been developed, and that parts are currently being manufactured and an official corporate bulletin will be released soon... possibly the next coming week. I believe it is more along the lines of a new redesigned pin assembly. He did not mention anything about washers.”
So, let’s keep our fingers crossed on this one!

Hopefully whatever those engineers come up with will solve the creaking targa top issue. I can imagine that hearing the noise all the time would get frustrating.

You have no idea how annoying. When I can drive an 8 yr old, clapped out Mazda Miata PRHT down an all gravel road that looks like the Oregon Trail with nary a squeak or pop, there is an issue.

Dealer ordered new latches and strikers for my 2015. Repair coming this week. Dealer says they have done three coupes and the new parts fixed the creaking. I will let everyone know how the repair went.

No, I have a 2016 Z06. The guy typing in the info obviously was in a hurry or something. I simply copied the verbiage verbatim. The key things to look at are the part numbers that you can see there.

I have been having this problem call my dealer he looked up the Tech Bulletins and called his engineering contact at Chevy can not find anything about these washers. I'm in NJ not to far from Bridgewater could you give me your dealers name and contact or the Tech Bulletin number so I can have this done to my 2014.
Thanks,
