Texas Registration Sticker-For Demented Only

Texas Registration Sticker-For Demented Only
Just got the Texas Registration Sticker in the mail for my 2016 C-7. Of course, the location for the sticker is specified as the lower left corner of the windshield. Placing it on the severely sloped C-7 windshield can be a real PITA if you are like me and want it to be perfectly straight and out of the driver's field of vision. Moreover, the sticker is hard to manipulate and sticks to the inside of the windshield with a very light touch. Even the smallest mistake will leave the sticker in an odd looking, cockeyed, location. Also, the sticker needs to be reachable for removal when it's renewal time, and the next one has to be installed.
My solution was to laminate the sticker on both sides prior to installation, leaving a thin stip of laminate overhanging on the top and bottom. Then with the help of my equally crazy wife, and a paint mixing stick, we were able to place the laminated sticker perfectly using the overhanging strips of laminate. Because it is laminated, and held only at the top and bottom, the sticker can easily be removed for the next time and still looks normal for our friends in law enforcement.

Now that really makes sense. Thanks for the idea, I will do the same thing in a few months when mine comes due.

IMO no matter how "straight" you get it it always looks crooked from some angle. I try to get it straight but don't lose a lot of sleep over it being a 1/4 inch low on one corner...
But I do wish they weren't quite so sticky. Just the static electricity that wants to draw it to the glass is enough to set it for good if you are not super careful.

Really nice idea. Here we have to get vehicle inspection stickers and the inspecting tech puts them on the car. Some get on pretty straight, others not so straight.

Actually those Texas annual registration stickers are pretty easy to get off. It was those inspection stickers that were a PIA to get off including all of the sticker remnants and adhesive. The state want those inspection stickers to self destruct when removed.

I would stick it to a piece of clear static cling vinyl and then stick that to the windshield.
Easy to remove and reposition and looks normal.
I have used this technique to transfer a parking sticker from one of my vehicles to another.

This is the best product for DMV stickers. You place the sticker on the sheet which static-clings to glass. Very easy to readjust or remove and transfer to other vehicles.

I have no trouble putting the stickers on. I just peel back a corner and stick the corner to the windshield, then peel, press and peel some more. Never had a crooked sticker.
But I like the OP's idea, may try it next year.

I really love having to stack them: registration, inspection, tolltag, work parking tag.
At least the inspection one is history now!

I'm happy enough with not having to have two stickers anymore.
And I thought I was a bit **** with the sticker placement.
NOPE
you got me beat on that one.

not sure what the issue is.
I put my texas registration on my car about an hour ago.
Easily put to almost the bottom of the windshield. And they have very little residue when peeling off in the first place. Unlike the old inspection stickers. Wasn't hard to reach either.

I don't get too worked up about the sticker on my C7 because of the angle in the corner of the windshield, if its aligned on the edge its not on the bottom and vice versa. One or the other would drive me nuts so I decided to ignore it to keep my sanity. If I still cared about it, yours would bother me because the lower right corner is so close to the edge of the windshield.
