Warm center console

Warm center console
Anyone else center console feeling a bit warm to the touch? I just noticed this last night while driving around with the outside temperature about high 70s. No reason for it to be warm right? I have an 8 speed auto if that makes any difference. Let the dealership look into it?

This was an issue in my C6 but I have not encountered the problem in my C7. I know that this is of no help but I would take it to the dealer. All of the C7s I have been in did not have excessive heat on the console, neither auto or manual. Hope you find an easy solution.

NASA-developed insulation called Aerogel is used on the transmission tunnel.
Many owners concur that the center tunnel in the C6 can get toasty, and with the C7 now locating the exhaust in an even tighter space, the potential to exacerbate the problem is very real. To combat this, Chevrolet is using insulation made from Aerogel, a material developed by NASA for use in space suits. Considered for years to be the lightest solid material in existence, Aerogel is 99.8 percent air (thereby replacing the liquid portion of a gel with a gas), yet it insulates 39 times better than the best fiberglass. The C7’s tunnel has a 10-mm (0.4-inch) layer of an automotive grade version of the stuff applied to its sides, and another 5 mm (0.2 inch) on top.
Exhaust tucked into the metal tunnel.

Here is a good pic. The console sits right above the metal tunnel, suggest not storing chocolate bars! They use a very fancy, expensive insulation but it mainly increases the time it takes to get warm. Here is some info:

The thin layers of Aerogel used in the C7 to insulate the tunnel no doubt reduce the heat getting to the console and reduce the temperature. Aerogel is a very interesting material, it's 98.2% air. The air is encapsulated in extremely thin shelled, entangled silica threads.

This is my first corvette so I had no clue that this is a normal occurrence. Wonder why GM doesnt use a thicker layer of gel to further reduce the heat from radiating into the center console.

There is a product that insulates the exhaust system one of the vendors here sells it.
I have no first hand knowledge of it working but I'm sure someone knows the good and bad of the material.

A house has 4, 6, 12 inch thick insulation in walls and ceiling and you still loose heat! Insulation can only do a limited amount. As several have noted, the C7 is better than the C6 and I didn't put a chocolate bar in my C6 console nor would I in the C7.

I doubt that there will ever be a thread where you can roast nuts and cook bacon in the C7 center console.
It's much better than the C6.
