Default Low mileage C7's on used car lots

How does a low mileage, 2 to 4k, C7 end up on a used car lot? Was just looking at local CarMax and they have three C7s available in the area, one with 2k and the other two with 4k.

I just do not see how cars like these could end up on a used car lot.

There was at least 3 2014's online in the past month with extremely low miles and low VIN numbers that were GM executive cars. I guess the executives are getting 2016's. Probably some others were bought by old guys that got sick and couldn't drive much. Estate sales?

People buy a car for a year and then sell it for something else. Variety is the spice of life.

In January 2015, I happened upon a 2014 that was one year old and had 2860 miles on it. So far no issues (now over 5k miles). Happy someone saved me $15k off the price of a new 2015 and saved me the headache of searching for a 3LT non-Z51.

When I was looking for a C7, I found a few low mileage jewels. But in all cases, they almost wanted as much as a brand new one.

In one case, a local Stealership had a used '15 C7 Z51 that was exactly equipped as I wanted, except that is was a manual and I required an auto. It had 300 miles on it. SalesThief was bragging to me how he rapped the seller trade in. What a POS. Turned out the guy bought it and then injured his leg and he could no longer work the clutch so he traded it back in two weeks later. The sales POS was asking as much for it as a new one! He wanted sticker, or more for all C7's. Said C7's are not discounted in Florida. What a moron.

Bingo...

People would be surprised at how many wealthy car enthusiasts buy a new sports/super car when they come out, drive it for 3-4 months, then sell it. Happens a ton.

I only have less than 1100 miles on my 2014 z51. Its not a daily driver, and I may trade it in for a manual. People change their minds and have other vehicles they drive too...its no surprise.

Uh, cars are commodities that can be traded, exchanged for cash, etc., etc. They also are appliances that provide transportation in the same way that refrigerators provide food storage.

Only a very few, rare cars are works of art. Corvettes don't fit this role except very occasionally, and certainly no recent Corvette built in the tens of thousands per year like the C7.

So of course they appear in commerce on used car lots or on Ebay (overpriced there, mostly, it seems to me) or elsewhere.

Don't think of them as works of art and a lot becomes clear.

That's a good part of it.

Then there's people who don't put a lot miles on their car and then trade it in a year later for the New Years model.

Good info but how do they end up on used car lots? I can see them being at the dealers in the instances above but cannot see how they get to a used car dealer.

Independent used car dealers find these cars at auction, inter dealership trades and customer trades....no mystery about the industry.
