hmmm must be the Z51 package as it has the large brakes. Wonder if it comes in an automatic in addition to the 5 speed model.

I actually had an orange kraten and my brother had an apple krate, when we were kids. My parents gave them to us on our birthdays. Man, what a machine back then.

That sure brings back some good memories.

I think it is cool that they photographed it at the track. No photo shop like they would do today.

that was for rich kids. Designed after the custom Harleys of the era. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know, I know, Harleys suck, blah, blah, blah.

I still have my old Schwinn Stingray hanging in the shop. I need to do some more research on it. I'm sure they're not hugely sought after collectibles, but it would be nice to know more about my first stingray lol

I had a gold one from Schwinn. It must have been the stripped down one, it only had a three speed!

I had one just like that when I was like 10 or 12! What a piece of junk it was!

Back in the day I lived down the street from Mr. Schwinn (one of the Schwinn family, not sure where he stood in the company.) He and my dad were friends so we spent some time at his house, which seemed like it always was full of bikes. But this was back in the '50s. By the time the "Sting Rays" came out in '63 I was already in the Army and more into cars (and females.)
