That makes me happy about foregoing my decision to buy the C6 Z06 for the C7 Z51.

It will make the HP bump with the 2017s easier for GM. Look no hands ... and we boosted power by xBHP (without making any changes at all.)

Just watched the video, looks like it has a velocity stack instead of an airbox, a custom ecu/tune and headers.

Sounds like it's right on par with other modded engines.

If you are going crate then go 454 big, mean and nasty. This is the engine that the Z06 should have. This beast would just about run every supercar into the ground.

The article says they used headers and a different electronic controller, but that's it. With headers and a tune, the C7 should get the same numbers before drive train loss, which should be fairly minimal with the MN7.

Anyone put a stock C7 on a dyno yet?

Interesting article. Sounds like GM can make the future engines more powerful with this base set.

Thanks......so what's a set of headers, tune and labour going to cost and is it the best bang for the buck....I suppose I should ask in Tech & Perf but since it's here........

I did this to my 08 and I paid about 2500 for ARH headers, 160 t-stat, install and dyno tune. Guessing price has gone up a bit in 7 years.

A friend of mine had all that done to his Camaro last year for right around that price. He mentioned that the headers were American Racing also.

You can knock quite a bit off the price by going with TSP headers instead of ARH. TSP are roughly $1000. $450 or so to install, another $400-500 for tuning, 160 tstat from Lingenfelter is about $30.

Other quick bolt ons to consider:
Ported Throttlebody - $150-$250
Ported Intake Manifold - $250+
CAI - $450+
Flex Fuel Sensor (plug and play kit) - $~400
