Default Opening Day Watkins Glen

Got to take my 10yr old son for 3 laps around Watkins Glen International today. Hit 110 mph on the front stretch while being chased by a Roush Mustang. Think he loves this car more than I do lol.

Pretty nice way to spend some time with your Son. Had to be a super time for both of you. I was hoping to make it there with the Corvette Club but had another obligation.
Anyhow nice looking Vette and good for you keeping that Mustang behind you.

Excellent-you'll always have that to talk about with your son!

Yes, this is really neat. I would like to take my grandson on the track, but it could only be a parade lap. His mom and dad are very conservative, and that is not a bad thing. Grandma and I are a different story! We haven't had the C7 on the track other than for a parade lap at the NCM track at the formal dedication. The Mini is another story though, it is not the 'Vette, but it is a nimble little car that is great fun on a technical track.

Yes I sold my Cooper S a year ago. That was a great car on the track.

That looks like a great time for you and your son. I was at Watkins Glen a long time ago, no race cars but the grateful dead, the band and the Allman Brothers where there.

We have the R56 JCW and are working on getting the new F56 JCW, it has 231 ponies! Should be even more fun! I was considering the C7 Z06, but it is too much car for a ROF like me! I love the Stingray, we bought it for a touring car and we have not been disappointed.

What club allows you to drive that fast on a parade lap without helmets?

Not a club. Was hosted by the track.

I love WGI. Did you go through the boot (full course) or the shorter NASCAR course? What did you think coming up the esses? Incredible, isn't it?

Its was the full course. Loved the Esses even though we got slowed down by a soccer mom in a Toyota Rav 4 halfway through them on the first lap. Luckily she pulled off after a while.
