Default Question about ordering a car using GM points

Hello,

I have some GM point earnings that expire at the end of May. I was wondering if anyone knows if I order a C7 this month and it does not arrive until after the points expire would I be out of luck? Anyone been in this situation?

If so I guess I am going to have to buy off a lot. I'm probably planning on going to Kerbeck regardless.

Thanks,
John

check with your dealer, you may be able to use them for the deposit.

Generally I think you use the points when you buy the car. Knowing Kerbeck and their "my way or the highway" attitude I doubt they will work with you. i would never buy a car from those guys.

I'm pretty sure points (cash) can only be applied when the car's ownership is transferred to you and it's marked sold and delivered in the GM computer. Applying it to the deposit would be a problem if you decided to ultimately not take delivery of your car.

Call the number on the back of the card to get the real answer, don't trust ANYTHING a dealer sales or finance manager tells you.

I believe if you contact them and tell them that you have a car on order, they may reserve the points. They may ask for an order number to do it which you can get when you order the car.

Check with the GM Card people first and then you can order a car.

They're cashed in upon purchase. Mine were applied by Macmulkin at the time of payment due. They were off my gm card at the time I was sent the paperwork. Seriously doubt GM dollars could be used for a deposit.

Thanks to everyone who has responded.

I contacted them earlier and they wouldn't extend or reserve the points. I was waiting for the 2016 updates announcement but they said the majority of my points actually expire by April 12th, not May. Bummed.
